‘Central Retail’ invests in ‘The Parentinc’ to strengthen business and expand the Mom & Kids community, building sustainable value and growth

Central Retail Corporation (CRC), the largest and leading retailer in Thailand, joins forces with The Parentinc, the Singapore headquartered tech company behind theAsianparent, the largest content and community platform for parents in Southeast Asia.

The move will not only enhance Central Retail’s service offerings and strengthen its portfolio in the Mom & Kids segment but also reinforce The Parentinc’s market leadership in Thailand by expanding its business and driving growth on both online and offline platforms, aligning with the ‘Omni-Centric Retailer’ business strategy.

Ty Chirathivat, CRC Chief Financial Officer commented, “The partnership between Central Retail and The Parentinc reflects the shared vision between two market leaders to grow the business and add value within the Mom & Kids segment by providing parents access to information and valuable services via an online community platform with the largest number of followers in Thailand and Southeast Asia. As a leading retailer, Central Retail will continue to charge ahead in finding new investment opportunities to strengthen the business, and we are ready to expand and sustainably grow The Parentinc’s community network, both in Thailand and in Southeast Asia.”

Through this partnership, Central Retail foresees the opportunity to expand in the Mom & Kids segment, which is a high-potential market. With The Parentinc also being a leading Southeast Asia community platform for parents with over 35 million users, it can influence consumers through its diverse content on health, tips for new parents, family planning, child development and child care. Central Retail sees the importance in building value and inspiring confidence in Thai parents by providing access to credible information and a platform to exchange knowledge and a variety of experience aspects  including  presenting quality products and services through The Parentinc’s online platform, uplifting service experience for our existing customer base and allowing Central Retail to expand into the Mom & Kids segment via the online community platform. These efforts are reflective of the company’s strategy to provide the best customer experience by offering seamless access to online and offline platforms, reinforcing its position as an  Omni-Centric Retailer”, added Ty.

Roshni Mahtani Cheung, The Parentinc Group CEO and Founder, says, “Our flagship brand, theAsianparent, has long held the number one spot in the digital parenting space in Thailand and Southeast Asia. With Central Retail’s support, we look forward to continuing to scale and innovate how we support and engage Thai mums both virtually and on-ground. This will be coursed primarily through theAsianparent’s top-rated app, a one-stop-app for parents, which like many of Central Retail’s brands, delivers on providing a seamless experience, where variety meets uncompromising quality.”

Now present in 13 countries and available in 11 languages, theAsianparent has grown its online community to over 35 million parents—almost tripling its user base in under three years. Content, community, and tech-centric innovations have been key to its rapid growth, maximising the team’s mastery of what works with mothers across varied and relevant platforms.

With Thailand as one of theAsianparent’s stronghold markets, The Parentinc continues to deepen its understanding of today’s Thai mothers, enabling tremendous and meaningful community growth.

Nitinan Assavathorn, Cluster Country Manager of theAsianparent Thailand and Vietnam, adds, “Our research has found that 90 percent of mothers in Thailand use a smartphone and are online at an average of four hours daily, with 57 percent of these mothers residing outside Greater Bangkok. This is a growing segment that Central Retail can reach out to via our community, thus allowing them to gain an enhanced and nuanced understanding of the parenting pulse and of their evolving needs and growing wants.”
