Chhay Sivlin Leads Cambodia’s Tourism Boom

Lynnaya Hotel PoolOne of the Kingdom of Cambodia’s most influential tourism personalities, hotel and travel agent owner and national president of The Cambodia Tourism Association (CATA) Okhna. Chhay Sivlin is playing a significant part in the re-emergence of tourism in Cambodia, particularly Siem Reap.

Ms Sivlin owns the famous Lynnaya Urban River Resort, a luxury property on the banks of the Siem Reap River surrounded by plush gardens. It is a 15-minute stroll from the action at the Old Market and the ever-popular Pub Street and a 15-minute drive to the famous UNESCO World Heritage Angkor Wat temples. Ms Silvin also founded CSL Travel & Tours in 2001 to provide staff to break down the language and cultural barriers often prevalent in foreign countries.

Ms Sivlin and her hardworking team of tourism specialists are slowly putting the destination back on global travellers’ bucket lists following the Khmer occupation and only several years ago, the curse of Covid 19

Ms Sivlin said the government’s announcement of the Visit Siem Reap Year 2024 campaign and a host of initiatives to promote tourism provided a platform for group delegates to outline their vision for the future of Siem Reap as an international tourism hub and one of the main gateways to other Cambodia tourism destinations.

“National visitation figures are improving,” she said.  “According to the tourism ministry, from January to September 2023, Cambodia attracted 3,926,882 foreign travellers compared to 1,265,772 in the previous period.

Madam CHHAY Sivlin works closely with the Ministry of Tourism to increase awareness and visitation to Cambodia.

Lynnaya Hotel is elegant and luxurious; the rooms are clean and spacious and have all the mod cons. Settled in the heart of Cambodia’s fascinating city. The hotel’s façade combines contemporary design and traditional Khmer lines with intricate carvings, paying homage to the region’s ancient heritage as a welcome feature.

The rooftop bar is a hotspot for guests and locals seeking panoramic views of Siem Reap’s skyline. As the sun slips below the horizon, the bar comes alive with happy hour drinkers, creating a friendly, lively atmosphere.

Palate Restaurant and Bar is a popular setting in the hotel for both locals and visitors. It is a classy Khmer fusion restaurant by the river. The menu has a vast selection, the drinks list is reasonably priced, and the service is very welcoming.

Lynnaya Hotel Siem Reap also prioritizes wellness, offering a state-of-the-art fitness centre and a spa that blends ancient Khmer healing techniques with modern treatments. The hotel’s sizeable pool provides a haven following a day tour, taking in some of the memorable destinations in the region. Tours can be arranged to visit all the historic and mystical sights of Siem Reap.
