Chubu Centrair International Airport appoints Travelport as Digital Media Partner

Travelport, a leading technology company serving the global travel industry, today announced that it has been appointed as Digital Media Partner by Chubu Centrair International Airport in Japan. As part of the appointment, Travelport will promote the airport and its connected destinations to a global network of travel agents.

Chubu Centrair International Airport is the main international gateway for the Central (“Chubu”) Region of Japan, serving a key metropolitan area of the country centered around the city of Nagoya. In November 2019, Chubu Centrair International Airport was certified as 5-Star Regional Airport for the third consecutive year by SKYTRAX. A new terminal dedicated for low-cost carriers was opened in September, raising expectations of a boom in foreign visitors to the Central Region of Japan.

Commenting on the partnership, Jason Clarke, Chief Commercial Officer — Travel Partners at Travelport, said: “Chubu Centrair International Airport is a world-class airport and a vibrant destination for both business and leisure travelers. The airport itself is already a ‘bleisure’ destination with an in-airport theme park, multiple hotels and convention centers, transforming what an airport has to offer.”

Clarke continued: “Travelport is delighted to promote the unique attractions of the airport and the Chubu Region to travel agents with the ultimate goal of bringing more international travelers to experience Chubu.”

Kentaro Yamakuchi, Head of Route Development and Marketing, Chubu Centrair International Airport, said: “We appreciate Travelport’s strong expertise in travel commerce, digital media campaigns and aviation marketing. Its ability to identify our unique value and tailor-make solutions to amplify our impact in the travel community has laid a solid foundation for our collaborations. We are excited to commence this project with Travelport and look forward to meeting visitors from around the world.”

Travelport’s Digital Media Solutions help airlines, airports and destinations raise their profile and boost bookings by influencing travel buyers throughout their purchase journey.
