In a grand showcase of culinary prowess and gastronomic innovation, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, in association with S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, has recently announced its prestigious extension list, covering ranks 51 to 100, before the eagerly anticipated live awards ceremony. This remarkable list, curated by the esteemed Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy—an assembly of 318 illustrious food writers, critics, chefs, and culinary connoisseurs—presents a panoramic view of Asia’s dynamic dining scene, featuring 12 exceptional new entries.

Spanning a vibrant tapestry of flavours and traditions, the extended list highlights establishments from 16 diverse cities across Asia, with Singapore and Tokyo leading the culinary charge, each boasting eight distinguished spots. This year, Singapore welcomes two novel additions to this exclusive assembly, while Tokyo, ever a hub of culinary innovation, introduces three. Notably, Lamdre in Beijing captures the spotlight as the 2024 recipient of the American Express One To Watch Award, making a remarkable debut at No.97.

Bangkok, a city renowned for its rich culinary heritage, is represented by seven remarkable restaurants, including the newly listed Haoma at No.90, further cementing its status as a gastronomic haven. Meanwhile, Hong Kong secures its place on the culinary map with six spots, introducing Howard’s Gourmet at No.100 as its latest entrant. Seoul, with its vibrant food scene, occupies five spots on the list, celebrating three new entries: Solbam (No.65), Kwonsooksoo (No.89), and Alla Prima (No.91), showcasing the city’s dynamic and evolving gastronomic landscape.

Shanghai and Mumbai each claim three spots on the list, with Mumbai welcoming The Bombay Canteen at No.70 as its fresh contender. Additionally, Colombo, Gurugram, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Manila, New Delhi, Shenzhen, and Toyama each boast one restaurant, underscoring Asia’s diverse and rich culinary fabric.

William Drew, Director of Content at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, expressed his excitement about the list, stating, “We proudly present the 51-100 list of restaurants in Asia, extending a particularly warm welcome to the newcomers to the 50 Best ranking. This underscores our ongoing commitment to championing the remarkable gastronomic talent thriving in the region. With 12 new entries and representation from 16 Asian cities, this extended list offers gourmets worldwide a selection of establishments to savor during their travels and a variety of exceptional experiences to choose from.”

The unveiling of the top 50 restaurants for 2024 is highly anticipated. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 26 March 2024 in Seoul, South Korea. This event, hosted in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, promises to celebrate culinary excellence and stream live to food enthusiasts around the globe.
