Marriott International has announced the appointment of David Ippersiel as General Manager of two outstanding properties in its Sheraton Hotels & Resorts portfolio located in Thailand’s renowned resort town of Hua Hin, namely Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa and Sheraton Hua Hin Pranburi Villas, effective 21st May 2019.
“I am very excited to have this opportunity to manage these two incredible resorts in this beautiful part of the world,” David says, describing himself as “skilled in catering, sales, spa, hospitality, renovation and pre-openings”.
A strong sales professional, David already had 15 years’ experience with Marriott, having begun his career in 1998 at the JW Marriott Dubai as Director of Sales. The appointment immediately followed his graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management from the world-renowned Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne.
Still in Dubai, in 2000, David was promoted to Director of Sales & Marketing at the Renaissance Dubai where he drove the hotel’s Market Share from No 8 to No 3.
In 2002, David transferred to the Warsaw Marriott as Director of Sales & Marketing where, under his stellar leadership, they garnered the Continental Sales and Catering Team of the Year as well as himself being awarded International Director of Sales & Marketing of the Year. Following this in 2004 he was appointed as Area Director of Sales & Marketing – Western Europe, overseeing 18 hotels across all brands.
David then left Marriott for six years enjoying hotel operations cross-exposure in Phuket before rejoining Marriott in 2013 as General Manager of the Renaissance Tlemcen in Algeria. He led that hotel to achieve Best Results Improvement and Financial Excellence awards.
In 2015 he was given the opportunity to open one of Marriott’s TCC-owned properties in Thailand, namely Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach. During his tenure he successfully positioned the resort in the market and achieved outstanding market share and financial results, leading to him bagging 2018 APAC Sales Leadership and Best Control and Compliance Environment awards.
David had a short sojourn in the Philippines earlier this year with MI before his current appointment.
