Today, the arrival of Emirates’ flight EK378 in Phuket from Dubai signified the resumption of scheduled services from Dubai to Thailand’s popular resort island and was welcomed by a water cannon salute at Phuket International Airport. Initially the services will be offered on a four-weekly basis, and will increase to six-weekly flights from 1 August, to meet demand on the route from travelers seeking to enjoy a beach holiday with plenty of sea, sand and sun.
Under the Phuket Sandbox model, international tourists who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be able to explore the best that Phuket has to offer, without the need for quarantine. The return of tourism to Phuket is expected to kick-start the tourism industry as a whole in Thailand’s largest island.
The passenger services on the Dubai-Phuket route will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three-class configuration, offering premium services in First and Business Class as well as Economy Class. From 3 July, Emirates flight EK379 will depart Phuket at 00:10 hrs, on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, arriving in Dubai at 03:05hrs the same day (all times are local). From 1 August, additional flights on Tuesdays and Fridays will be added to the weekly schedule to offer convenience and better connectivity for travellers from Phuket, especially those connecting onwards to other destinations via its hub in Dubai. Emirates flight EK378 to Phuket, will depart Dubai on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 03:00hrs and arrive at Phuket International Airport at 12:30hrs the same day, with the addition of Mondays and Thursdays from 1 August onwards.
For an even more seamless journey, the airline is also scaling up its IATA Travel Pass capabilities on its flights between Dubai and the following cities: London, Barcelona, Madrid, Istanbul, New York JFK, Moscow, Frankfurt, Charles De Gaulle, and Amsterdam. Passengers can now use IATA Travel Pass to access the latest COVID-19 related travel information including the location of PCR test labs, and manage their COVID-19 travel documentation such as vaccination and latest PCR test results. Passengers on these flights will receive an SMS and email with the activation code and instructions on downloading the IATA Travel Pass app. Emirates plans to extend the IATA Travel Pass to all routes across its network in the coming weeks.
