Fall in love with an autumn wedding at The Slate Phuket

Autumn is an enchanting time of year to get married in southern Thailand. As the monsoon rains end and the skies clear, nature bursts into life creating a kaleidoscope of colour. To mark the start of the wedding season,  The Slate Phuket, the whimsical, Bill Bensley-designed seafront sanctuary, is inviting couples to celebrate their special day in style amid its idyllic dreamscapes.

Nestled on Phuket’s secluded northwest shore, The Slate is a spectacular setting for brides and grooms seeking a one-of-a-kind wedding, away from the crowds. With art-inspired interiors and lush gardens that bloom with tropical flowers, this Design Hotels member resort is a dazzling destination for every event, from exquisite Asian ceremonies to elegant Western celebrations.

A choice of enticing venues is available. The graceful Coliseum Garden, which can accommodate up to 400 guests for ceremonies and 300 for receptions, is a natural amphitheatre with a verdant lawn, gentling swaying palms and lush foliage. Alternatively, the Beach can accommodate more intimate events with up to 80 guests on the golden sands, overlooking the sparkling Andaman Sea. Surrounded by Sirinat National Park, this is one of the most tranquil stretches of Phuket’s west coast and creates a serene scene for the exchange of vows.

Setting the stage for stylish indoor celebrations, The Slate’s breath-taking Ballroom can host up to 400 guests for Thai or Western weddings for 550 for glamorous cocktail receptions, while industrial-chic Rivet can be transformed into an original venue for up to 90 guests. Rebar, the trendy open-air lounge, offers a boho-chic option for smaller ceremonies and receptions overlooking the garden, and Tin Mine, the semi-alfresco restaurant with vaulted ceilings and flowing water features, brings a sense of exotic charm to weddings with up to 90 guests or cocktail receptions for 200 family and friends.

Finally, Black Ginger will set the scene for truly extraordinary wedding receptions. This highly-acclaimed Thai restaurant, which has been recommended by the Michelin Guide, is a masterpiece of authentic Thai architecture. Appearing to float above a tranquil lagoon, it is only accessible by wooden raft. Capable of handling up to 120 guests for cool cocktails or 60 for sit-down receptions, this atmospheric venue is also the ultimate backdrop for wedding photos.

Whichever location guests choose, they will be immersed in a mesmerising, multi-sensory ambience of natural sounds, floral fragrances, fine flavours and original artworks to immerse every guest in the romance of the occasion. The Slate’s dedicated team of wedding planners will listen to the wishes of the bride and groom and offer a complete range of professional services, from photography and videos to live entertainment, make-up, flower arrangements, wedding cakes and more, to bring their unique vision to life. Two carefully curated packages are available:

The locally-inspired “Thai Wedding” package embraces the most exquisite elements of Thai culture. Personally guided by a dedicated wedding coordinator, couples will enjoy an enchanting ceremony featuring a blessing by Buddhist monks and a water blessing, accompanied by floral decorations and traditional Thai “kim” music. Brides will be able to prepare perfectly with a professional hair and make-up session, and guests will be accommodated on elegant white wooden chairs, with drinking water and cold towels. Afterwards, couples will be presented with The Slate’s wedding certificate as a memento of this unforgettable occasion.
The wonderfully romantic “Western Wedding” package includes a bridal path, wedding arch or gazebo, two flower stands and plenty of floral decorations guests. As guests sit on white wooden chairs, with cold towels and drinking water upon arrival, they will be able to watch the event unfold, overseen by a master of ceremonies. The bride will be able to prepare for the day with professional hairstyling and make-up, and a sound system and microphone will be provided for the music and speeches. A personal coordinator will be on hand throughout the day to ensure that everything runs seamlessly.

“Autumn is a magical time to get married in Phuket. Following several months of tropical rainfall, the air is relatively cool and the island blossoms with life and colour. This not only creates a beautiful backdrop for ceremonies; it also stimulates the senses – sight, sound, fragrance, feeling and flavour – to craft a truly holistic experience, At The Slate, we can create multi-sensory wedding journeys that will stay in the happy couple’s hearts, minds and senses forever,” said The Slate’s co-founder and owner, Krystal Prakaikaew Na-Ranong (or “Khun Moo” as she is known to her friends).
