Great Wall Motor Signs MOU with Excise Department, Announcing New Prices for All Models of ORA Good Cat in First Phase while Giving Extra Privileges to Existing Customers, Accelerating Thailand toward Sustainable EV Ecosystem

Great Wall Motor (GWM) continues to accelerate Thailand’s transition to an electric vehicle (EV) society, signing MOU with Excise Department with new prices announcement for all variants of the ORA Good Cat currently sold in the Thai market while offering additional benefits to existing customers of the ORA Good Cat who received their vehicles prior to the MOU signing. This new initiative aims to support the Thai government’s EV adoption scheme and infrastructure development project across the nation.

In this effort, GWM is reiterating its mission to position Thailand as the central hub for EVs in ASEAN while advancing itself to become the xEV leader in Thailand.

Today (March 21, 2022), a memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed between GWM and the Excise Department to promote Thailand’s electric vehicle adoption and production during the first phase in which the Thai Government will provide a subsidy of 70,000 – 150,000 baht per unit depending on car battery size, together with additional value-added tax (VAT) reduction privileges. In this regard, GWM is ready to pledge its full collaboration to motivate the adoption of pure EV cars across the nation. GWM is pleased to announce new retail prices under government subsidy (phase one) of all three variants of the ORA Good Cat currently sold in the Thai market as follows:

  • Price for ORA Good Cat 400 TECH is from 989,000 baht to 828,500 baht.
  • Price for ORA Good Cat 400 PRO is from 1,059,000 baht to 898,500 baht.
  • Price for ORA Good Cat 500 ULTRA is from 1,199,000 baht to 1,038,500 baht.

Additionally, committed to operate its business with a user-centric approach, GWM is pleased to offer extra privileges to ORA Good Cat customers who received their vehicle prior to the MOU signing or before March 21, 2022. As a token of our appreciation for customers who have shown their trust and support in GWM’s brands and products, such customers will receive the following benefits worth over 25,000 baht.

  • Earn 100,000 GWM Points, equivalent to 10,000 baht, to redeem products and services on the GWM app.
  • Get charging credit at any of GWM’s charging facilities nationwide. The credit is valued at 15,000 baht.

Mr. Narong Sritalayon, Managing Director of GWM (Thailand), said: “The Thai government has a plan to encourage greater usage of electric vehicles and establish the country as the ASEAN hub for electric vehicle manufacturing, with a target of having zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) account for 30% of all car production in Thailand by 2030. This goal is not only in line with GWM’s strategies for investment and operations in the Thai market but is also a guideline for us to create and develop new products and services that better cater to Thai consumers’ EV needs and driving experiences. GWM is pleased and ready to support the Thai government’s scheme along with other stakeholders’ efforts in order to help, create and elevate the growth of Thailand’s EV industry, resulting in the practical adoption of clean, safe and eco-friendly electric vehicles nationwide, while advancing Thailand’s position as the central hub of EVs in ASEAN. The new prices of all ORA Good Cat vehicles as well as extra benefits given to ORA Good Cat customers prove our commitment to listening to our customers’ voices and delivering better experiences to them.”

Entering its second year of business operations in Thailand, GWM is continuing to build trust among Thai consumers by providing quality vehicles to the market. For 2022, GWM is planning to bring a total of five EV models from three brands to the Thai market, including the pure electric vehicle from ORA brand. Aligned with the Thai government’s EV adoption scheme, the plan also builds on the success of the ORA Good Cat, which created buzz and excitement in Thailand’s automotive industry last year and quickly won Thai consumers’ hearts. So far, GWM has delivered a total of 1,108 ORA Good Cat vehicles (from November 2021 to February 2022), launching it into the leading position in Thailand’s 100% electric vehicle segment since its first month of delivery in the Thai market.

Additionally, GWM is proactively developing and expanding its EV charging infrastructure nationwide. Last year, GWM opened its first G-Charge Supercharging Station in Thailand at Siam Square, Bangkok. This fast-charging facility is equipped with three DC charging units, each with two CCS type 2 connectors. The station therefore has a total of six connectors with a maximum charging load of 160kW. The facility is open 24/7 and designed to accommodate all other battery vehicle types and brands. For 2022, GWM is set to expand its charging facilities to 55 locations across the nation. The expansion covers three formats: G-Charge Supercharging Station, expanding charging stations to GWM Partner Stores nationwide, and collaborating with business partners to install additional DC charging stations at hotels, restaurants, and department stores to provide xEV users with more convenience, easy accessibility, and an impressive EV driving experience, while driving Thailand’s electric vehicle industry into a bright future.

As the ‘Global Intelligent Technology Company’, GWM is committed to providing products and services equipped with advanced technology and safety, and that are eco-friendly. With its readiness to continue its support of the Thai government and other stakeholders in Thai society, GWM is eager to contribute to the growth of Thailand’s electric vehicle industry and economy in a long-term and sustainable way.
