Great Wall Motor Thanks Thais for Overwhelming Support throughout 43rd Bangkok International Motor Show

Great Wall Motor (GWM) expressed its gratitude to Thai consumers for their tremendous reception of its electric vehicles (xEV) and innovative technology showcased at the 43rd Bangkok International Motor Show.

With the theme of ‘Leading the Future’, GWM’s booth saw a large number of visitors who came to get a closer look at the latest electric vehicles and experience engaging and fun activities centered on GWM’s products and services. Throughout the twelve days of the exhibition, 3,226 visitors downloaded the GWM Fun app to participate in activities at the booth. In addition, car enthusiasts registered to test-drive GWM’s three popular xEV models (the All New HAVAL H6 Hybrid SUV, All New HAVAL JOLION Hybrid SUV, and ORA Good Cat), resulting in 1,261 test-drives and 1,520 units booked in total despite having only three models available in the market. The GWM app attracted 21,423 new users during the same period. As a result, there are now more than 80,129 active users on the company’s cutting-edge digital platform, the GWM app. This resonates with the success of delivering new experiences to consumers through Online-to-Offline services conducted by the ‘Global Intelligent Technology Company’ committed to becoming an xEV leader in Thailand.

GWM once again sparked excitement amidst Thailand’s electric vehicle industry from the inaugural day of the 43rd Bangkok International Motor Show, with the first-ever showcase of two cutting-edge EV models brought directly from China, giving Thai consumers the chance to get an up-close look. These were the modern off-road SUV TANK 300 HEV Concept Car from GWM’s TANK brand and the sporty ORA Good Cat GT from the ORA brand. The exhibition also featured the All New HAVAL H6 Plug-in Hybrid SUV, which returned to Thailand at this show after holding its world premiere here late last year, followed by three other popular models that have been receiving tremendous uptake from Thai consumers since their official launches in the Thai market. They are the segment leader the All New HAVAL H6 Hybrid SUV, All New HAVAL JOLION Hybrid SUV and the pure electric ORA Good Cat, which is now offered at desirable new prices following a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between GWM and the Excise Department to promote Thailand’s electric vehicle adoption and production during the first phase. As a result, 1,136 units of ORA Good Cat were booked at the exhibition and 774 more were booked at GWM Stores nationwide, totaling 1,910 units within two weeks.

GWM also displayed its smart driving innovations of the future such as GWM LEMON Hybrid DHT Technology and GWM LEMON E, created a variety of online and offline activities for visitors to engage in and win prizes, and offered special packages and benefits exclusively at the event. As a result, the GWM booth received tremendous interest, with visitors stopping by to seek additional information, registering for test-drives and placing orders during the two-week exhibition. Additionally, 3,226 visitors downloaded the GWM Fun app to participate in activities at the booth, marking another successful step for GWM in creating new experiences that better respond to consumer needs while advancing itself to become Thailand’s xEV leader.

GWM welcomed a tremendous number of visitors to its booth throughout the exhibition; the GWM app – the company’s main channel for activities – was downloaded by more than 21,423 new users, increasing the number of active users to 80,129. GWM also offered test-drives for consumers who were interested in trying out its three popular models at the event, and 1,216 test-drives were taken in total. The ORA Good Cat gained the most interest with 777 test-drives, followed by the All New HAVAL H6 Hybrid SUV (263 test-drives) and the All New HAVAL JOLION Hybrid SUV (221 test-drives). More importantly, GWM achieved total bookings of 1,520 vehicles during the event, testifying to consumers’ trust in this new automotive brand, which has only been in the Thai market for one year, with three models on offer.

During the event, GWM ran a consumer survey on 1,951 booth visitors to improve GWM’s products and services as well as to design new experiences that better cater to Thai consumers’ lifestyles and needs. It was found that consumers interested in GWM’s brand and products are in the age group 26-45, in different fields of work including private company employees, business owners, physicians, and university students. They are mostly looking for vehicles in the price range from 800,000 to 1,000,000 baht, followed by those with the price range from 1,000,000 to 1,200,000 baht. Most of them want to replace their car with a new one, and the new purchase will be an addition for the family rather than being their very first car. The survey results indicate that the three most desired models for Thai consumers to own are the ORA Good Cat (23%), followed by the All New HAVAL H6 Hybrid SUV and the ORA Good Cat GT, which ranked equally (20%).

For those respondents who signaled their interest in buying the ORA Good Cat and ORA Good Cat GT, their main reasons include the vehicles’ technology and performance, eye-catching design, and attractive new prices. Consumers who declared interest in buying the All New HAVAL JOLION Hybrid SUV indicated that its outstanding exterior design, LED headlamps, smart driving assistance, convenience in getting in and out, and splendid interior design are their main reasons. The top three models that consumers felt most impressed by after seeing them at the event are the ORA Good Cat (26%), the ORA Good Cat GT (20%), and the All New HAVAL H6 Plug-in Hybrid SUV (18%).

Narong Sritalayon, Managing Director of Great Wall Motor (Thailand), said: “GWM was excited to show our lineup of electric vehicles with smart driving technology again at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show and give Thai consumers the chance to see and experience them first-hand. This year, we designed our booth around the concept of ‘Leading the Future’. This theme not only reflects our mission to become the leader of the future for the automotive industry but was also based on consumer feedback from previous events. We used consumer feedback to create a variety of activities that better respond to booth visitors’ interests – either customers, business partners or general consumers so that they could learn more about our brands and products. Visitors to our booth could participate in engaging activities, shop for lifestyle products and souvenirs or just take time to relax. Our team of Intelligent Ambassadors (iAM) was always standing by to provide assistance and answer questions. I would like to thank everyone for their interest, trust and support bestowed upon GWM, which helped us have a successful show, with overwhelmingly positive feedback once again.
I would like to reaffirm that GWM will proactively offer better driving experiences that cater to Thai consumers’ lifestyles and needs.”

As the ‘Global Intelligent Technology Company’, GWM is progressing into its second year in Thailand based on its first-year achievements and with a focus on providing products and services that are advanced, safe and eco-friendly while adhering to its customer-centric methodology. GWM is aiming to grow along with its customers, business partners and Thai society while contributing to the strong and sustainable growth of Thailand’s electric vehicle industry.
