Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. took the ‘Digital Bus’ project for society and organized a roadshow with the goal of enhancing digital skills and transferring digital knowledge for young people and others to Wat Mai Tan Than School, Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.
‘Mai’ – Davika Hoorne, a Thai celebrity and Huawei Digital Power presenter, also attended the event to raise awareness of clean energy use for the protection of the environment.
Mr. Simon Lin, President of Huawei Asia Pacific, said: “Over the past decades, digital technologies such as 4G, 5G, cloud and AI have constantly been pushed to their limit for innovations and digital dividends. However, when we embrace a bigger world powered by technology, we need to realize that this journey is not always balanced. According to the ITU, more than half of the world’s population has limited Internet access. As Thailand is making impressive progress in 5G and digital economy development, there will be a gap of 400,000 in Thailand’s digital workforce supply by 2030 according to third-party reports.”
“Through a variety of initiatives, including Huawei ASEAN Academy (Thailand) and Seeds for the Future, Huawei has supported Thailand in cultivating over 50,000 local digital talents so far. In order to leave no one behind in the digital world, this digital bus project aims to provide practical and basic knowledge for over 1,500 students in rural Thai areas. The project is also one of our CSR projects that is important for reaching out to the younger generation as part of our annual plan,” Mr. Lin added.
Ms. Sukanya Luachang, acting headteacher of Wat Mai Tan Than school, shared appreciation to Huawei that: “All students and teachers at the school are very excited about this activity as our school is very small located in remote area, with only 38 students from kindergarten to grade 6. It is difficult to have knowledgeable activities for our students here. Huawei’s digital bus roadshow provided a great opportunity not only for our students but also teachers in order to learn new technologies. On behalf of the school, I would like to thank Huawei Technologies (Thailand) for this activity, also giving us educational materials and sports equipment.”
Arinlada Phuangthong and Papangkorn Kitchon, grade 3 students at Wat Mai Tan Than School shared their impression after experiencing technology on the digital bus that: “We are extremely glad that the Huawei digital bus visited our school. We truly enjoyed and excited from what we have learnt through tablets and big TV screen equipped in the digital bus, especially, when we knew that this digital bus is generated by solar power. It will be marvelous if the digital bus can be longer here, at our school.”
The digital bus is based on Huawei Fusion Solar Residential Smart PV technology – photovoltaic technology that converts solar energy into household electricity, which Huawei launched at the end of 2021. Accordingly, Huawei has applied that technology to power the digital bus; in addition to promoting digital skills, it is also environmentally conscious, using clean energy from solar power.
The ‘Digital Bus’ project aims to use technology to improve education in Thailand, particularly in rural areas, in an equitable and comprehensive manner. This is part of Huawei Thailand’s commitment to driving and developing Thailand’s technology industry while also encouraging the use of digital energy and helping to reduce the digital skills gap in Thailand. The project has been organized in response to the growth of the digital economy and society, with the goal of sustainably propelling Thailand as an ASEAN digital hub.
