Mr. Surachai Chatchalermpun, Country Cybersecurity and Privacy Officer of Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., today received the CSO30 ASEAN Award 2022 on behalf of Huawei, one of the top cybersecurity leaders in the ASEAN region. This industry accolade, now in its second consecutive year, recognizes the top 30 executives contributing to cybersecurity development and was presented to Mr. Surachai by CSO, a global organization providing information, analysis, and research on security and risk management. Not only was Mr. Surachai ranked ninth out of the total number of honorees, but he was also the only senior executive from Thailand to receive this prestigious award[1] based on his achievements in several areas, such as accelerating Thailand’s development through innovation, enhancing future-proofing solutions, and driving industry transformation.

Mr. Surachai Chatchalermpun, Country Cyber Security and Privacy Officer, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said: “I am thrilled and honored to receive the distinguished CSO30 ASEAN Award 2022. Cybersecurity and privacy are among Huawei’s highest priorities. We became a leading ICT company because we were among the first private companies that helped equip the Thai workforce with digital literacy skills, including in cybersecurity and privacy. We are committed in helping bridge digital divides and reinforcing Huawei’s mission to ‘Grow in Thailand, Contribute to Thailand’.”

In addition to many ongoing initiatives, Huawei has also spearheaded skill development and incubation programs for ICT personnel throughout the country, which includes fostering an effective cybersecurity and privacy culture together with providing best practices and knowledge to employees. Huawei is one of the first private organizations in Thailand to be recognized for its contributions to talent development, sharing numerous good examples for organizations and people in the country. Through this, Huawei will help create a solid ICT ecosystem, paving the way for Thailand to move towards a smarter digital era where everyone, every household, and every organization is securely connected to each other at every level.

Over the past few years, Huawei has launched multiple cybersecurity initiatives in Thailand through collaborations with government agencies, the private sector, and the education sector. Its flagship program, Huawei ASEAN Academy, provides trainings that nurture Thailand’s growing digital talent pool. Huawei, in partnership with the National Cyber Security Committee (NCSC), also launched the ‘Cyber Top Talent Competition’ to raise awareness about cybersecurity and help develop a digital workforce to serve rising demands within the cybersecurity space. Following this program, representatives from Thailand emerged as the winning team at the Cyber SEA Game Competition 2021 ahead of several competitors from other ASEAN nations. In aid of the long-term development of a future cybersecurity workforce, Huawei also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the NCSC, to provide cybersecurity training for ICT personnel and executives. In addition, Huawei developed several talent development innovations, namely Huawei e-Lab, to provide workshops for ICT personnel via Huawei’s internal platforms. Thanks to these numerous initiatives, Huawei has been awarded with several industry accolades, such as the NCSA Cybersecurity Recognition Award from the NCSC as well as the Prime Minister Award: Thailand Cybersecurity Excellence Awards 2022.
