Japan Railway (JR) Pass is Now Available on Traveloka Thailand

Traveloka, Southeast Asia’s leading digital travel & lifestyle platform, and one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the region, continues to strengthen its commitment to Thailand by providing Thais with an end-to-end seamless travel and lifestyle experience with the introduction of Japan Railway (JR) Pass.

Japan continues to be one of the top destinations among Traveloka’s Thai users and the JR Pass, with its network of 4,900 km covering 18 prefectures (regions) including the Kansai region which is full of top attractions, promises a more enriching travel experience in Japan.

Traveloka is partnering directly with JR West to distribute the JR passes on its iOS and Android App and this collaboration makes Traveloka the first travel and lifestyle booking platform to provide JR Pass digitally in Thailand.

Caesar Indra, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Transport, Traveloka, explains the reasons behind Traveloka’s collaboration with the Japan Railways Group“Japan has proven to be a huge draw for Thais as the most popular spot for a vacation in a country that does not share a border with Thailand. Based on the data published by Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the number of annual visitors from Thailand to the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ has reached more than 1 million in 2018, including visitors who increasingly travel to more than one domestic destination and prefer traveling by train to secondary cities.”

“With a large number of Thai visitors to Japan choosing the Japan Railway network to travel domestically, it becomes important for us to provide a convenient and easy booking product that can address our user needs. Japan Railway is the perfect partner that enables users to select their preferred pass on Traveloka based on their requirements and anticipated itineraries (JR East, JR West, JR Shikoku, etc.),” he added.

Eligible for travel throughout Japan with time periods that vary from 7-21 days, JR provides a more affordable and efficient travel option, not just for JR owned and managed rail lines but also some bullet trains, buses, monorails, and ferries. The cost of a JR pass can be recouped in just one return trip from Tokyo to Kyoto.

JR Pass – Key product highlights:

  • Traveloka owned ticketing: Traveloka prints and ships all JR passes and tickets directly, providing peace of mind to its users
  • Flexible planning: Book now, 100% refund later – Traveloka is the only booking platform that provides this feature
