Jetstar expands payment options with WeChat Pay

Jetstar has introduced WeChat Pay as a new payment option for customers holding a Chinese domestic bank account, allowing them greater access to Jetstar’s every day low fares when booking on Jetstar.com.Jetstar Group Head of Sales and Commercial for Jetstar Asia, Paul Rombeek, said this option was a great addition and very timely as Jetstar Asia has recently added two new Chinese destinations – Guiyang and Xuzhou – to the network.

“We are very pleased to include the WeChat Pay option to our payment channels on Jetstar.com as we continue to deliver great travel experiences while providing our customers in China with their preferred method of payment when making bookings,” said Mr Rombeek.

WeChat has over 1 billion monthly active users, of which 800 million have activated WeChat Pay*. WeChat Pay and Alipay accounted for almost 94 percent of the country’s third-party payment market**. Jetstar passengers can pay via WeChat, Alipay and other widely-used payment channels.

Jetstar currently operates services to 14 destinations in Greater China – Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xuzhou, Shantou, Haikou, Sanya, Changsha, Hangzhou, Guiyang, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

With Jetstar’s extensive networks in Asia Pacific, travellers can easily access Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam and other exciting destinations.
