JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa Celebrated Songkran Festival in Traditional Thai New Year Style

JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa joined the nationwide to celebrate the splendor of the Songkran Festival also known as Thai New Year.Mr. Matthias Y. Sutter (7th from right), General Manager of JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa presided over the event along with the associates and hotel guests.

The morning session began with the cultural experience with the local communities. The recreation team organized the ‘Get Wet Tour’ program, guests travelled with the classic Pho-Thong, a local shuttle bus to Nai Yang Beach and had fun with the water splashing along the Mai Khao to Nai Yang beach area.

The afternoon session was kicking off with the cultural long drum procession and sprinkling scented water on the Buddha statue; pouring water over the palms of elders’ hands for blessing; participating fun-filled water activities and Thai traditional games in the hotel’s garden.

In the evening, the hotel guests enhanced the richness of Thai cultural heritage through its significant festival; the hotel’s lotus pavilion and lotus pond were transformed to be the temple fair ambience with the Thai musical background, traditional Thai dance performances and fire shows throughout the night. Guests also had the opportunity to savor on authentic Thai cuisine prepared by crafted Thai chefs.
