Songkran Festival in Chai Phra Kiat Temple, Chiang MaiThailand is preparing to celebrate the world’s biggest water splashing festival, Songkran, from April 7-16, 2023. Central Pattana, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and other partners, has organized several entertainment events across all 38 shopping centres nationwide to draw in tourists during the peak season in Thailand.

Central Pattana plans to create Songkran festival landmarks in primary and secondary cities throughout Thailand. These initiatives will help to reaffirm its reputation as the best host of culture and entertainment festivals nationwide.

Thailand celebrates the world’s biggest water splashing festival – all Central shopping centres invite travellers to enjoy the world phenomenon Songkran Festival.

The festival has three strategic initiatives that aim to promote the festival and provide a unique experience for visitors and locals alike. The first initiative is to create local and international big-impact events, including two world-class music festivals at Central World and tourist malls in major tourist destinations such as Phuket, Pattaya, Chiangmai, and secondary cities Ayutthaya, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Chanthaburi.

Central Pattana has created international awareness of these events by promoting them on global tourist platforms such as Klook and WeChatPay. The second initiative is the music festival phenomenon, ‘SUPERFLUID centralwOrld x 4nologue.’ It is an exceptional music festival amid water showers and features famous artists, with breathtaking full-scale light and sound shows that will run non-stop from April 14-16, 2023.

Attendees will have the opportunity to revel in the music of renowned T-POP and K-POP artists, including 8TURN, a boyband from South Korea. The third initiative is culture and entertainment co-creation which features six cultural and entertainment highlights for all generations.

These highlights include global music entertainment, all-in-one Songkran entertainment, Thai culture entertainment, delicious entertainment, leisure entertainment, and shopping entertainment.

The entertainment activities include traditional activities such as paying respects, pouring water on Buddha images, asking for blessings, receiving holy water from well-respected temples, traditional performances of Thai dance and exhibitions of Thai arts and culture. Additionally, there will be mouthwatering famous street foods from local restaurants under the ‘Thai Market Entertainment.’

The leisure activities include special activities for all family members, such as check-in with photo points, Songkran little beauty pageant, outdoor cinema, etc. Finally, the shopping entertainment initiative offers special promotions with big prizes of more than 1.7 million baht in total*.

Foreign tourists can enjoy a Tourist Welcome Package worth 3,000 baht* from March 15 to May 15, 2023. They can also get a Gift Voucher worth 100 baht when spending 3,000 baht on shopping* at 15 participating tourist malls. Songkran is a famous festival celebrated annually in Thailand to mark the beginning of the traditional Thai New Year. It is also known as the world’s biggest water splashing festival, where people splash water on each other, signifying the washing away of the old and welcoming the new.
