Old Street Bak Kut Teh ventures into Thailand | Opens First Branch

Old Street Bak Kut Teh today announced the opening of its first outlet in Thailand. Through a joint-venture with Thailand’s Venture Food & Restaurants, this inaugural outlet is located in Bangkok, at MBK Center.

Founded in 2010, Old Street Bak Kut Teh now has 22 wholly-owned and self-operated outlets across four cities. It is part of the Old Street Group, which also owns and operate several noted restaurant brands. This longstanding excellence is evident in everything they serve.

Its signature dishes include the likes of the all-time favorite traditional Bak Kut Teh (Pork Rib Soup), Dried Bak Kut Teh, Braised Pig’s Trotters in special sauce, among others. A highlight is that the soup, which is the key component of Bak Kut Teh, is boiled for at least 12 hours, using only pork bones, thus enabling the soup to retain natural collagen, well-known for its many health benefits; also their dough fritters (you tiao) are fried on a demand basis to maintain its crispiness. All dishes are MSG-free.

Mr. Jason Lim, Managing Director of Old Street Group, shared: “Our outlet at MBK Center offers the same menu items as all our other outlets. We are very excited to have this opportunity to serve our popular dishes here in Thailand, and our friends in Bangkok can now get to enjoy authentic and quality Bak Kut Teh.”

“The popularity of the Singapore-Styled Bak Kut Teh (Pork Rib Soup) is undisputed. We are proud to partner with Old Street Group of Singapore to open the very first flagship Old Street Bak Kut Teh outlet here in Bangkok and offer authentic flavours of this hugely popular dish to diners here in Thailand.” said Ms. Jacqueline Sim, Managing Director of Venture Food & Restaurants.

The restaurant is located on 1st Floor, Zone C, Unit 29, MBK Center. This is in the middle section of the mall. From BTS National Stadium, enjoy direct access to MBK. Ample parking also available. To mark the new opening, three different set meals are now on offer at very attractive prices.

Old Street Group today also announced that franchising for Old Street Bak Kut Teh is now available globally. On this point, Jason Lim said: “With our proven profitable business model, streamlined and time-tested modus operandi, strong franchise support structure, along with a reputable and recognizable brand name, we now have a turnkey opportunity for entrepreneurs, veteran or new, to join us in our journey into making Old Street Bak Kut Teh the world’s largest chain of its kind.”
