OZO Chaweng Samui and Amari Koh Samui successfully construct their first check dam in 2019 to help conserve the island’s water resources.

OZO Chaweng Samui together with its sister hotel, Amari Koh Samui, their guests, CSR Committee, local business partners and a group of volunteers led by Mr. Thomas Hain, Cluster General Manager of Amari Koh Samui and OZO Chaweng Samui, Mr. Methee Boonsuk, Chief of Koh Samui Watershed Management Unit, guests and Mr. Robert Meissner, South Thailand Area Manager of Asian Trails successfully constructed their first check dam in 2019. This is the twelfth dam to be completed following the launch of this initiative in January 2014.

“OZO for H²O by OZO Chaweng Samui” is one of OZO’s CSR projects which aims to conserve Samui’s water resources by constructing and maintaining check dams. The check dam enables water collection during rainfall, to help regulate water flow, increase the level of underground water and reduce soil erosion to benefit the local community.

OZO for H²O by OZO Chaweng Samui is the brand’s first CSR programme in partnership with Amari Koh Samui, Koh Samui Watershed Management and Green Island Foundation Thailand (GIFT), aided by logistics support from Asian Trails. OZO Chaweng Samui is committed to supporting the campaign through fundraising and volunteer work in the construction of the check dams.

The goal of OZO for H²O by OZO Chaweng Samui in 2019 is to raise THB 15,000 to help finance the construction of three check dams in Khao Pom, Samui’s highest hill within the tropical rainforest.
