Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok welcomes you to an enchanting ‘Chocolatier’s Affair’ afternoon tea in a collaboration between Executive Pastry Chef Franck Istel and the renowned Thai chocolatier ‘Kad Kokoa’ that transforms award-winning and sustainable Thai cocoa beans into a gastronomic symphony of delectable French savouries and sweets with warm hospitality in the charming ambience of the 1897 Lounge.

Explore the world of ‘Kad Kokoa’s’ flavourful and sustainable cocoa beans from Chiang Mai, Chantaburi, Chumphon and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces in Thailand in chocolate creations that encapsulate the vibrant floral notes and tropical fruity nuances, setting Thai cacao apart as an embodiment of true excellence. Moreover, their chocolate offerings have consistently received award-winning recognition, further adding to their fantastic story. An exquisite afternoon tea set crafted by Chef Franck Istel and his culinary team harmoniously intertwines the allure of Thai premium chocolate infused with the finest ingredients and refined French pastry techniques, creating an unparalleled sensory experience.

The ‘Chocolatier’s Affair’ Afternoon Tea, showcases 14 flavourful delicacies that will appeal to all sweet and savoury chocolate lovers. The symphony starts with cocoa’s delicate savoury highlights in the luxurious foie gras rocher, elegantly infused with the AVPA Paris Silver 2021 award-winning 70% Chantaburi dark chocolate and speckled with pistachio nibs; followed by a crispy pocket of duck confit ravioli, complemented by dark Chiang Mai BBQ drizzle and a side of Northern tangerine-chilli compote; a cocoa tartlet with a cured bacon covering on top with a hint of husk tea gelatine; an elegant chocolate marble finger sandwich layered with smoked salmon, fresh dill and Ikura salmon roe; and a refreshing prawn terrine, drizzled with a Thai-inspired mole, garnished with vibrant tobiko.

This special-edition afternoon tea is served with three-flavoured scones featuring classic vanilla, rich 70% Chumphon chocolate, and fragrant almonds, accompanied by velvety clotted cream, strawberry-vanilla jam, and a luscious chocolate spread – the perfect finish to a delightful teatime.

Enhance your palate even further with the sweet delight of cocoa, featured in a masterpiece tartlet crafted from the finest AVPA Paris Bronze 2023 award-winning 70% Chiang Mai dark chocolate, raspberry and crowned with roasted cocoa nibs; a cone of milk chocolate with Prachuat cream set atop an almond cake; a reinterpretation of ‘Tiramisu’ brewed as cocoa tea encased in a chocolate cup; a delicate chocolate choux filled with pistachio praline and white chocolate cream; and a soft chocolate delight infused with 70% Chantaburi ganache and a touch of hazelnut Chantilly. This special edition comes with a luscious 70% Chumphon chocolate mousse delicately encased in a cacao bean set on the side.

Noble tea master Ging Nipaporn Hanwichai has carefully chosen a variety of delicate and exquisite Ronnefeldt® teas to pair well with this special afternoon tea edition. Additionally, guests can choose to pair with a signature hot chocolate at THB 280++ per pot.

To complete your sensory experience, renowned harpist Ms. Tong-Juan Wang plays enchanting live harp music for everyone’s enjoyment during afternoon teatime from Tuesday to Sunday.

‘Chocolatier’s Affair’ Afternoon Tea is served daily from 1 September until 23 November 2023 from 14:00 to 17:00 at 1897 Lounge on the ground floor of Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. The experience is priced at THB 1,390++ per set and paired with a choice of Ronnefeldt tea or divine coffee. Each is inclusive of a special gift of a 20-sachet box set of cocoa tea infused with chrysanthemum to enjoy at home.

The price is subject to a 10% service charge and a 7% government tax.
