St. Regis Bangkok’s Van Gogh Tea Encore!

The St. Regis Bangkok is excited to announce the follow-up to its successful Van Gogh-inspired Afternoon Tea with an updated menu that brings the Post-Impressionist Dutch painter’s art to life. Available for tastemakers from April 1 to May 31, 2024, at The St. Regis Bar, the afternoon tea and beverage selections are inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s masterworks in collaboration with The National Gallery, London—an art gallery in Central London—and ARTiSTORY, a global leader in the field of art and cultural IP licensing.

Enhancing the afternoon tea experience, Ivan Zabolotnyi, Beverage Manager at The St. Regis Bangkok, has crafted special drinks, including cocktails and mocktails. Guests can also indulge in exclusive Van Gogh-inspired merchandise items such as The St. Regis Bangkok’s “Little JJ” teddy bear couples, tote bags, and tumblers. After stepping into the House of Astor, immersive decorations throughout The St. Regis Bangkok highlight the display of framed replicas of the masterpieces and other sunflower-themed adornments, offering a multi-sensory experience to capture picture-perfect moments.

Afternoon tea is one of The St. Regis’s signature rituals, once embraced and brought to New York society at The St. Regis New York by Mrs. Caroline Astor, the mother of The St. Regis’s founder, John Jacob Astor IV. It has evolved into social gatherings of the city’s high society up to the present times. Echoing the storied tradition of Mrs. Astor, the latest Van Gogh-inspired afternoon tea offers a decadent delight inspired by the artist’s classic paintings, making the gastronomic experience more exceptional.

The latest version of the afternoon tea showcases edible sweet masterpieces created by the hotel’s new Executive Pastry Chef, Nuntida Panyabaramee, and savory items created by Chef de Cuisine, Pongsakorn Boonruang. The chefs draw inspiration from paintings including “Long Grass with Butterflies,” “Wheat Field with Cypresses,” and “Sunflowers.”

Sweet creations include an Absinthe Lime Bonbon made with absinthe liquor which Vincent van Gogh drank frequently, white chocolate, and lime; a Pistachio Cherry Crescent with pistachio mousse, Amarena cherries, pistachio sable, and a small butterfly chocolate on the top; a Duo Chocolate Bee Pollen Palmier puff pastry in a butterfly shape with orange syrup, milk, dark chocolate, and bee pollen; a Chocolate Crunchy Layer Bar with dacquoise and dark chocolate ganache; a Passion Fruit Chocolate Sunflower made with dark chocolate passion ganache, passion fruit curd, tuile, and chocolate tart; and Yellow Sunflower Seed Scones with Apricot Jam and Orange Jam.

Complementing the dessert selection are savory items inspired by distinctive colors of each painting, including Buttered Brioche Toasted with fermented daikon, Ama Ebi tartare; a Gorgonzola Balsamic Truffle Jelly Tartlet with butterfly pea radish and caviarPineapple Passion Fruit Gazpacho with cheese cracker and spicy charcoal emulsion; Pumpkin Blini topped with cucumber relish, dill sour cream, and salmon roe; and Truffle Potato Mousse with truffle carpaccio and paprika puffed rice.

Enhancing the afternoon tea experience further, Beverage Manager Ivan has crafted special drinks, including Van Gogh-Inspired cocktails such as The Muse, made with vanilla vodka, passionfruit, pineapple, caramel, and black sesame; and mocktails such as Afternoon Delight, made with Thai tea, apricot puree, almond syrup, and condensed milk.
