Prof. Dr. Visith Chavasit shared with the audience that over 300,000 Thai people who suffer from non-communicable diseases, or NCDs, including stroke, acute coronary syndrome and diabetes, die every year. Among the early signs of NCD are overweight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol which can develop into more serious diseases. He stressed the importance of balanced nutrition and physical activities to improve one’s general well-being.

She pointed out that people should not consume more than 6 teaspoons of sugar, 6 teaspoons of fat, 2 teaspoons of fish sauce or 1 teaspoon of salt per day. She also explained how to simplify the food selection process by looking for the “Healthier Choice” logo that certifies that the product contains not more than 6 grams of sugar per 100 ml of beverage. This stamp is found on healthier food products, such as Herbalife Nutrition’s protein shakes.

Mr. Araya Rojjanawanicharkorn explained that the nutritional logo that is issued by the National Food Committee is not only to increase awareness, but also to enable consumers to choose healthier food varieties and make informed decisions. On the first day of the event, Ms. Yossavadee Hassadeevichit, Thai Herbalife Nutrition’s brand ambassador, also came on stage to emphasize the merits of exercise and making the right nutritional choices to promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
