THAI Flies Stranded Thais in France and Australia Home

Sqn. Ldr. Anirute Sangrit, Vice President, Flight Operations Department, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), and Head of THAI Operations Control Center (TOCC), said that THAI cooperated with the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra, and the Royal Thai Consulate General in Sydney to operate a second chartered flight to fly stranded Thais in Australia and stranded citizens of Australia and New Zealand home during 20-21 May 2020.

On 21 May 2020, 293 stranded Thais in Australia flew on flight TG476 which departed from Sydney at 11.02 hours (local time) and arrived in Bangkok at 17.46 hours.

On 18 May 2020, 40 stranded Thais, who registered with the Royal Thai Embassy in Paris to return to Thailand, flew back on THAI’s cargo flight TG933 at 20.55 (local time) and arrived in Bangkok at 12.35 hours of 19 May 2020.

To reduce the risk of transmission among cabin crew and passengers, physical distancing procedures were applied in every service: check-in, passenger boarding, seat arrangement, serving inflight meals in disposable boxes to avoid physical contact, and disembarking. The cabin crew were required to wear protective suits, medical masks, and gloves while providing services, and observe passengers with possible symptoms.

THAI is always prepared to operate special flights to fly Thais home during this difficult time.
