Thai-HK Biz Boom: Unleashed Potential!

HKTDCHong Kong is calling out to the Thai business community, offering a vibrant platform for collaboration, innovation, and regional integration. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is hosting its distinguished promotion event, “Think Business, Think Hong Kong” (TBTHK) in Bangkok on July 13th and 14th, heralding Hong Kong’s status as a resilient innovation hub. This occasion, taking place at the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, serves as an epicentre for fostering lucrative partnerships through dynamic networking activities, comprehensive seminars, and an enlightening exhibition.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) shares a deeply embedded economic rapport with Hong Kong, a connection that Ronald Ho, the HKTDC’s Regional Director for Southeast Asia and South Asia, is keen to highlight. With ASEAN as Hong Kong’s second-largest trading partner in merchandise trade, Ho elaborates, the TBTHK event in Bangkok will underscore the city’s myriad contributions to the ASEAN economy and offer a renewed thrust for the promotion of regional trade and investment partnerships.

“We aim to underscore Hong Kong’s robust merchandise and service sectors, and acquaint Thai enterprises with our city’s recent developments. We intend to demonstrate that Hong Kong remains a premier international business hub in Asia and an unrivalled investment and business platform for Thai businesses seeking to tap into the vast opportunities in China,” Ho said. He further highlighted the potential for collaboration among Thai, mainland and Hong Kong business communities, emphasizing the creation of mutually beneficial business opportunities and the preservation of longstanding business and trade relations.

Such opportunities, according to Ho, are made possible through solid, forward-thinking governmental planning and free trade agreements such as FTAs and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which present a framework for regional cooperation.

Positioned at the geographic core of Asia, Hong Kong functions as an international financial centre, furnishing several unique advantages. These include reliable legal, financial, investment, and tax systems, high-quality, innovative and creative products and services for trade, and its role as a vital access point for developing business connections with Mainland China, the ASEAN, and beyond.

This city serves as a crucial link between the mainland and the world. Its vital role as a conduit for the flow of capital, goods, information, and people remains undiminished. Strategic development plans such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Development Plan stimulate new possibilities, enhancing Hong Kong’s status as a finance, trade, logistics and cultural exchange hub. As such, Hong Kong stands as an ideal partner for Thai companies wishing to capitalize on the boundless opportunities provided by the GBA and global markets.

TBTHK presents a holistic platform for the Thai business community to gain insights into Hong Kong’s role as a fitting gateway to mainland and international markets. Strengthening the robust trade ties between Hong Kong and Thailand, a Trade Expo will display high-quality and innovative products from over 100 Hong Kong exhibitors, including acclaimed companies like Chow Tai Fook, Green Common, B.Duck, Vita Green, Memorigin, and Smart City Consortium.

A wide range of Hong Kong’s innovative and creative quality products will be previewed to the Thai media during the press luncheon. Featured products range from fashion & lifestyle to home & gifts, sustainable & green sectors.

Furthermore, the event will host a series of Trade Talks, emphasising Hong Kong’s competitive edge as a trading hub. Industry experts from renowned retail groups, associations and innovative companies will gather to discuss topics like the Future of Retail, Maximising Business Opportunities through Licensing, Re-shaping E-commerce and Embracing Sustainability & ESG.

Adding an element of fun and excitement to the event, there will be a giveaway session on the second day, offering a range of prizes from smartphones to air tickets. A photo booth featuring Hong Kong’s iconic buildings set in the venue with a TBTHK branded Tuk Tuk will provide an immersive experience, promoting Hong Kong’s authentic culture and iconic scenery to the Thai community.
