THAI Holds Cocktail Reception to Introduce New Flights to Sendai

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) and Toyota Tsusho (Thailand) Company Limited held a Cocktail Reception to celebrate the introduction of THAI’s new flights to Sendai, the center of Tohoku Region, Japan, and its tourist attractions that were replicated at the event. Mr. Sumeth Damrongchaitham, THAI President, Mr. Shigeki Kobayashi, Counsellor, Embassy of Japan in Thailand, Mr. Niitsuma Tomoki, Senior Director, City of Sendai, and Mr. Takuya Iwai, President, Sendai International Airport, jointly presided over the opening ceremony in the ballroom, at Park Hyatt Bangkok. Also present were Mr. Kiyoyoshi Oba, Toyota Tsusho Thailand President, Ms. Anujtha Jaovisidha, Vice President, Toyota Tsusho Thailand, Mr. Wiwat Piyawiroj, THAI Executive Vice President, Commercial, and guests of honor.

Mr. Sumeth Damrongchaitham, THAI President, said Japan has long been THAI’s high potential market thanks to its popularity amongst Thai tourists, with a continually rising growth rate, as the Japanese Government has waived visas for Thai nationals.  THAI’s new flights to Sendai serve as an economic gateway that will generate longstanding development in the Tohoku region, which not only supports regional trade and tourism but also encourages an exchange of knowledge and good relations between Japan and Thailand. This also supports government trade and investment policies.   Therefore, the Tohoku region views THAI as not merely an airline but as the representative of Thailand that can usher development into the region. THAI’s Bangkok-Sendai flights have 80% advance bookings through to March 2020.

Sendai is THAI’s sixth city and seventh airport destination in Japan covering all regions of this country after Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka and Sapporo. THAI will operate the Bangkok-Sendai inaugural flight on 29 October 2019 with its Boeing 777-300 aircraft, royally bestowed the name “Lahan Sai”, which has 364 seats: 34 seats in Royal Silk Class and 330 seats in Economy Class. THAI received permission to paint the aircraft in Suphannahong Royal Barge livery with the Royal Emblem in Commemoration of the Royal Coronation Ceremony.

THAI operates three weekly flights to Sendai with schedule as follows;

  • Bangkok-Sendai, TG626, on Tuesday Thursday and Saturday departs Bangkok at 23.59 hours and arrive in Sendai at 7.40 hours of the next day (local time).
  • Sendai-Bangkok, TG627, on Wednesday Friday and Sunday departs Sendai at 11.15 hours (local time) and arrive in Bangkok at 16.05 hours.
