Thai Vietjet last night successfully commenced its maiden flight from Chiang Mai to Osaka (Japan), with a warm welcome ceremony at Kansai International Airport, in presence of Mrs. Merica Sivara, Acting Consul-General, Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka; Ms. Thanawadee Sukskulwatana, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand, Osaka Office; Mr. Stephane Geffroy, Corporate Executive Vice President (CCO-Non Aero), Kansai Airports; Mr. Takafumi Nakada, Administrator of Kansai International Airport, MLIT, CAB Osaka; and Mr. Luong Truong An, Executive Vice President, Thai Vietjet.
The first group of passengers to Osaka were greeted with special souvenirs upon boarding flight VZ822. which safely landed at Kansai International Airport early morning today.
At Chiang Mai International Airport, the maiden flight VZ823 from Kansai International Airport was welcomed by the presence of Mr. Nirat Pongsitthaworn, Governor of Chiang Mai Province; Mr. Higuchi Keiichi, Consul General of Japan in Chiang Mai; Mr. Suladda Sarutilawan, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand, Chiang Mai Office; Mr. Pallop Sae-Jiw, President of the Tourism Council of Chiang Mai; and Mr. Woranate Laprabang, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Vietjet.
“We’re proud to officially inaugurate the historic flight between Chiang Mai and Osaka today. This is the very first connection between Chiang Mai and Japan in Thailand’s commercial aviation history. We believe that by launching our new service this time, we will be able to offer a more convenient & valued choice to passengers from Japan, particularly from Osaka, to travel to the beautiful city of Chiang Mai at an affordable price while providing quality and comfortable service. It will also lead to the further growth of the tourism section between the two countries, particularly when global travel is bouncing back to its positive stage” said Mr. Woranate Laprabang, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Vietjet.
In the early stage, the international flight service between Chiang Mai and Osaka will operate 3 flights per week and increase to 4 weeklies from April 2nd this year, with an approximate flight duration of 5 hours and the following flight schedule:

To celebrate the succesful inauguration of the new flight service, the airline offers special fares starting from just THB 4,990 (inclusive of taxes and fees) between Chiang Mai and Osaka.
