Thailand’s Only Authentic Biryani Chain Sets Out to Become the Market’s Standalone Brand in the Sector

Biryani is a traditional Indian dish with a history as rich as its flavour. Thailand’s leading biryani brand, Dum Handi Biryani, is now on a mission to provide a unique experience with the widest variety of Dum Handi Biryani across Asia, emerging as the only stand-alone brand in the Indian food for biryani.

Sourced from the Origin

Biryani is also a symbol of ultimate joy, an indulgence cherished by food lovers. The dish came to India from Iran, and by the 15th century AD, it had become a staple meal for troops on the move, being both quick and wholesome. Today, local and hyperlocal variations have evolved into different distinctive styles, each an exquisite melting pot of flavours.

Dum Handi Biryani (DHB) is an ensemble meal filled with aromas & flavours that is authentic and versatile in its appeal. The base ingredient is basmati rice, available in vegetarian and non-vegetarian recipes. Mintu Kushwa has formulated a pre-mix with DHB spice. DHB spice is the first thing cooked along with meat or vegetables, blending flavours and fragrances of authentic biryani.

DHB uses the best ingredients, including one of the most premium branded old (Purana) rice (around two years), including hand-picked spices from different parts of India, such as Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Assam, Kerala and West Bengal. DHB also has the most stringent selection process for meats and vegetables, using world-class technologies, processes and systems to produce the best quality, standardisation, hygiene and convenience to customers in-store and online.

Real Dum Handi Biryani Vs Fake Biryani

A real Dum Handi Biryani involves an authentic mediaeval cooking process in a clay pot (Handi). The porosity of the clay pot helps keep the aromas intact for between 24 and 36 hours.

There are several common ways to identify fake biryani being marketed as authentic “Handi” biryani”. This includes biryani poured from a utensil into a clay pot for aesthetic purposes. If the biryani becomes cold or at room temperature within an hour, this is an indicator of authenticity, as a true Handi Biryani remains hot for four hours. When fewer varieties are offered, this may indicate inauthentic processes.

Dum Handi Experience- The Wow Factor

The spices, handling style, source of heat, utensils and containers, and cooking temperature are all vital factors contributing to the taste of DHB.

Mintu Kushwah, Founder and Chef at Dum Handi Biryani, said: “To cater to the diverse tastes of our guests, we at Dum Handi Biryani deliver both authentic tastes of Hyderabadi (Kutchi) and Lucknowi (Pukki) Biryani prepared in individual earthen Handis with the fresh ingredients to lend that style and aroma to the dishes. The Kolkata Biryani, a sub-variant of the Lucknowi Biryani, is particularly popular amongst tourists. The ingredients melt in your mouth and melt your heart!”

DHB is the only biryani chain in Thailand to make biryani fresh for every individual order and deliver it in the same Handi in which it is cooked.
