ATLANTA, February 12, 2020 Forbes Travel Guide (“FTG”), the world-renowned and only global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants and spas, today announced its annual Star Rating list, presenting The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok and Athenee Spa with a new Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star hotel and spa award respectively. The Athenee Hotel, Bangkok and Athenee Spa will be showcased with all of the Star Award winners on ForbesTravelGuide.com.
The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok is located in the heart of Bangkok’s city center, and stands on the site of Kandhavas, the former royal palace of HRH Princess Valaya Alongkorn, daughter of King Rama V.

The hotel is strategically located on Wireless Road, an iconic address perfect for the best shopping malls, entertainment venues and nightlife as well as the most sought after venue for business and events; and steps away from the convenience of the Skytrain station.
The hotel claimed the 5-star Asia Pacific Property Award for the Best Hotel Interior Thailand, for its 374 modern rooms and suites including four Thai-inspired themed suites that define a gracious style of living. Overlooking Bangkok’s dramatic skyline, the high-floor club lounge benefits include daily breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails. The lagoon-style rooftop garden swimming pool, Fitness Center and Athenee Spa offer added experiences together with the curated Destination Discoveries programs, which offer an insight into the hotel’s royal roots.

Eight dining venues provide a delightful epicurean journey. The Allium Bangkok serves Modern French cuisine, traditional Thai food features at The House of Smooth Curry, modern and traditional Chinese dishes are offered at The Silk Road, and the sophistication of Japanese Kaiseki cuisine at Kintsugi Bangkok by Jeff Ramsey. Extravagant international buffets are featured at The Rain Tree Cafe including Bangkok’s most famous Sunday brunch. Delightful themed afternoon teas and pastries are available at The Bakery, refreshing beverages at The Glaz Bar and light meals on the poolside terrace of The View.

The hotel is a prime venue in Bangkok for meetings and events, and is renowned for hosting some of Bangkok’s most famous weddings. A range of 30 unique venues including 3 ballrooms, offer more than 6,500 square meters of space and a capacity of up to 1,500 delegates;. The hotel was the first in the world to be certified ISO20121 for events sustainability.

The Athenee Hotel, Bangkok ranks as one of the best luxury hotels in Bangkok, with the highest levels of exceptional experience, service and facility for discerning business or leisure travelers.

Athenee Spa located on the 5th floor of The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok uses only indigenous products that are chemical free, locally sourced and fair-trade supported; where guests can choose from over 40 treatments, ranging from a selection of massage styles through to entire spa journeys.

Within this very extensive area are a total of seven treatment rooms, with five single treatment rooms and two couple treatment rooms, together with a salon and a separate relaxation area.

The design of Athenee Spa evokes the image of a genteel Siamese during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the mid Rattanakosin era. Use of golden artifacts, stenciled brass work, and gold leaf symbolize the royal status, and the atmosphere is one of perpetual calmness. Flowers and floral arts form a distinctive element in the spa, with fragrant blooms including Spanish cherry, Thai jasmine, peony, ylang ylang and royal lotus.

Signature treatments include Regal Journey, using a technique in which only fingers and palms are used by the therapist; and Royal Ritual, a complete body treatment that ends with a golden leaf being placed on a pressure point of the guest’s wrist to mark the completion of the journey.

Forbes Travel Guide is recognized for creating the original concept of Five-Star service, and The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok and Athenee Spa are the latest addition to its illustrious annual Star Rating list.

“We have been committed to championing genuine Five-Star service for more than 60 years, and this year’s winners, as always, exemplify the very highest standards in hospitality,” said Filip Boyen, CEO of Forbes Travel Guide.
