Meaningful, yet a straightforward name, ‘Takieng’ means ‘Lantern’ signifying the local fishermen’s daily routine of taking the long tail boat with their fishing nets and lanterns to catch fish at night time to avoid the heat from the day’s sun. Takieng is located on the beachfront of Renaissance Phuket Resort and Spa on the Mai Khao Beach, the long sandy beach on the northwestern side of Phuket.
Takieng offers enticing menu options that showcase the very best of Thai cuisine including local dishes that are hard to find elsewhere. Diners can experience the authentic Thai flavors and high quality locally sourced ingredients. Chef A, originally from the south of Thailand, has over 20 years of culinary experience in crafting local Thai and Phuket cuisine. His dishes are inspired by his mother’s home cooking recipes using only local ingredients. Favorites on the menu are “Pla Kapong Mieng Kham” crispy deep-fried whole Sea Bass accompanied with Mieng Kham sauce, “Chu Chee Ped Krob” rich red curry sauce with golden-fried locally farmed duck and “Jakkajun Thalay Thod” deep fried locally sourced Mole Crab served with sweet chili sauce.
