THE BALVENIE Unveils its New Rare Marriages Collection in Tribute to Exceptional Vintage Casks and Flavour

As the saying goes, ‘the height of sophistication is simplicity.’ The Balvenie, a truly classic distillery from William Grant & Sons Ltd, that is dedicated to natural alchemy and traditional craftsmanship, unveils its new line of single malt whiskies, under the name: The Rare Marriages. The exclusive launch in Thailand was held at William Grant & Sons very own The Distillers Library Bangkok, an invite-only space at Piman 49 Heritage Project that houses exclusive access to rare whiskies for connoisseurs, collectors, and enthusiasts alike.

The new Rare Marriages series, pays homage to The Balvenie Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE’s dedication to mastering his craft, designing, and building exceptional flavours throughout his career spanning six decades.

As a permanent fixture in the Speyside distillery’s portfolio, the Rare Marriages range is created for discerning drinkers to discover the incredibly complex in the seemingly simple. Understanding the marriage that occurs in the Traditional Oak Marrying Tun is an art form of science and alchemy. Alongside David’s expert nose and intuitive knowledge, his skilful blending of elements created these incredibly intricate and balanced expressions which personify The Balvenie character through the years.

Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE said, “The Balvenie has incredible depth of flavour, and our Rare Marriages Range is designed to unveil intricacies of our whisky in a bold marriage of extraordinary character. This range reflects the very essence of luxury through the experience of layers of flavours.”

The Balvenie Rare Marriages collection, namely, The Balvenie Twenty-Five, The Balvenie Thirty and The Balvenie Forty was paired with an exquisite course pairing from Canapes & Sons, founded by award-winning chef, Pongtawat “Ian” Chalermkittichai, with a special menu curated by Head Chef Nikhom Robkwaen, to complement this special occasion.

The Thai-inspired dinner started off with welcome canapes, which included red curry croquettas with river prawn, nam prik ong chicken and larb salmon kra tong tong. Then into the dinner, guests were treated to mouth-watering menus, namely the yum seabass, tiger prawn and Southern coconut soup, beef tenderloin mussamun, followed by mango panna cotta and petit fours to end the exclusive pairing experience.

“Made from casks that have stood the important test of time, these special whiskies have distinct profiles and experiences which we have designed to reveal the wonderful depth of The Balvenie Single Malt,” David C. Stewart added.
