The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon Rolls Into the Festive Season with Larger-Than-Life Retro Glam Fest

With The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon gearing up for its busiest season yet since throwing the doors open earlier this year, the hotel’s dining and nightlife venues are putting on their best acts – from limited-edition pours at The Parlor to a glitzy New Year’s Eve party at Sky Beach to gourmet feasting at The Standard Grill, Ojo and Mott 32.

Wowing guests from the first point of entry, The Plaza in front of the hotel, complete with its own roller disco, will turn into a Rockefeller Center-esque festive wonderland steeped in 1980’s Hollywood glamour, while The Standard’s Christmas Tree in the lobby, decorated in collaboration with Dhanut Tungsuwan, one of the Bangkok’s hottest creatives which promises to be a gift for all those who want to “glam their gram” this festive season.

Roller Disco at The Plaza

Throwing it back to the 1980s in Hollywood where The Standard was born, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon will bring its all-American retro glam roller disco inspired by the legendary Sunset Strip to The Plaza with daily DJ sets curated by The Standard. A groovy combination of art, fashion and rollerskating, the disco is open to all, with hourly skate rentals available from 23 December 2022 to 1st January 2023.

Tease

1stDecember 2022 – 31st January 2023

Those who are already ramping up for the festive season can start celebrations as early as the beginning of December with a daily Christmas-inspired Afternoon Tea at Tease. The playful menu features a delightful selection of savory treats including Iberico tarts with peach and hazelnuts, Canadian lobster rolls with caviar, and The Standard’s famous quail and whisky party pies. On the sweet side are spiced cranberry scones with blackberry jam; Christmas Tree sponge cakes with pecans and honey and Black Forest gateaux with Morello cherries, Manjari chocolate and spiced brandy. Priced at THB 1,400++ per set per person, the experience can be upgraded to a boozy version with a glass of bubbly for an extra THB 275++.

The Parlor

19th – 31st December 2022

Guests can also get their cheer on at The Parlor where a special selection of Christmas cocktails paired with tasty locally-inspired bites will be on offer from 19 December through the 1st of January. Some of the highlights include The 31st Night – a blushing concoction of gin, Pampelle Ruby, peach and pineapple paired with spicy prawn and banana blossom egg nets, and Blissini Slipper – a heady mix of vodka, blackberry, thyme, lemon and cava brut served with coconut sticky rice, black salt and toasted mung beans. Prices start from THB 500++ per cocktail. Come New Year’s Eve, The Standard’s talented mixologists will be pouring their creativity into Standard Light – an exclusive creation served at midnight which combines Midori, rhubarb, mangosteen, clarified pink milk and Champagne.

The Standard Grill

Christmas Eve – 24th December 2022

On Christmas Eve, The Standard Grill will be putting on a four-course dinner rooted in American culinary tradition with entertainment from Sanny and the Natt Buntita Trio. The menu opens on a high note with foie gras terrine and is followed by a clam chowder served in a bread bowl with serrano and celeriac. Carved table-side are Norfolk turkey, CopperTree beef prime rib and Kurobuta pork loin served with butternut pumpkin confit, sauteed Swiss chard and Brussel sprouts with black truffle jus. Saving room for the moreish pumpkin pie with crème fraîche ice cream is highly recommended. Christmas Eve Dinner at The Standard Grill will take place on 24 December from 5:30 pm and is priced at THB 3,200++ per person (add THB 1,200++ for optional wine pairings).

Christmas Day – 25th December 2022

On Christmas Day, The Standard Grill will follow up with a lavish Christmas Day lunch served family-style. Guests will be offered heaving plates of oysters, Canadian lobster, tiger prawns, black lip mussels and Hokkaido scallop tartare as well as premium charcuterie, including paleta Iberica, Parma ham, house-cured duck pastrami, mortadella and truffled salami. The main course, carved table-side, is a celebration of traditional Christmas flavors – think roast prime rib, lamb leg and rotisserie chicken served with all the trimmings. For dessert, Not Your Standard Christmas Pudding with brandy custard and vanilla bean ice cream will round out the experience nicely. Christmas Day lunch will be served from 12:00 pm till 2:00 pm, accompanied by live music, and is priced at THB 2,800++ per person for a four-course set menu, with an optional two-hour alcoholic drinks package available for THB 1,900++.

New Year’s Eve – 31st December 2022

The revelries will continue with a five-course New Year’s Eve dinner. An amuse-bouche of Wagyu steak sandwich with caviar, and freshly shucked oysters and Champagne granita will be followed by jamón ibérico carved tableside. Next up is a choice of wood-fired seafood with saffron bisque or fagottini with pork cheeks, morels and winter truffle consommé. The next two courses offer harder choices still: Canadian lobster with white asparagus or sautéed foie gras with native fruits followed by roasted turbot with squid ink and surf clams or David Blackmore’s Fullblood Wagyu sirloin. The closing act is a flaming bombe Alaska. The first seating is at 5:30 pm, while the second seating, from 8:30 pm till late, will feature live music and a set from one of the world’s most sought-after vinyl spinners [insert DJ’s name] after midnight. The experience is priced at THB 4,500++ per person for first seating and THB 6,000++ per person for second seating, with extra THB 2,800++ for wine/Champagne pairings.

New Year’s Day Brunch – 1st January 2023

To start 2023 off in the best possible fashion, guests are invited to The Standard Grill’s extra-long revival brunch running from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. On the menu is everything from homemade pastries and breakfast favorites like French toast, buttermilk pancakes and muesli to The Standard Grill’s full breakfast, chorizo hot dog and black Angus sliders. Guests will also be able to have their final fill of Christmas sweets ranging from Christmas stollen and gingerbread crumble to pumpkin pecan pie. New Year’s Day unlimited a la carte brunch is THB 1,200++ per person, with an option to purchase an alcoholic beverage package separately for THB 1,900++.

Ojo

Christmas Eve – 24th December 2022 & Christmas Day – 25th December 2022

For a Mexican Christmas celebration against the backdrop of the city’s spectacular panorama from the 76th floor guests can head to Ojo, The Standard’s soaring temple to the native cuisines of Central America helmed by award-winning chef Francisco Paco Ruano. The festive four-course set menu with optional wine pairings and live music from a resident DJ will open with tuna tlayuda – a delightful tuna carpaccio on toasted tortilla topped with avocado and ant salsa followed by tiger prawn and uni tamal with chilpachole salsa. The three mains – slow-cooked lamb shoulder with salsa verde and mezcal; Veracruz-style bacalao made with roasted cod, olives and Guero chili peppers; and crispy skin suckling pig with ponche sauce will be served with traditional dips, Oaxacan tomato salad and fresh tortillas. For dessert, guests will be invited to tuck into homemade churros with pine nuts and Rompope ice cream. Ojo’s Christmas menu is priced at THB 3,900 ++ per person, with an extra THB 2,000++ for wine pairings.

New Year’s Eve, Ringing It In – 31st December 2022

The perfect perch to enjoy Bangkok’s spectacular riverside fireworks display, Ojo will be pulling out all the stops with a six-course set menu served indoors and Ojo’s Last Sunset of 2022 experience on the breezy terrace with live DJ sets. Inspired by the season, the menu will include such highlights as lobster tostada, veal sweetbreads, wild coral trout, roasted duck, chamoy sorbet and a glass or more of Billecart-Salmon Brut.

Farewell to the Last Sunset outdoor experience at the highest rooftop in town from 4:30 pm till 6:30 pm with a seat at THB 12,000++ per person with a glass of Billecart-Salmon Brut, free-flow cocktails and snacks. And from 5:30 pm till 8:30 pm, book your time for the first seating at THB 20,000++ per person indoors with a glass of Billecart-Salmon Brut and unlimited cocktails, then the second seating, from 8:30 pm till late, is priced THB 30,000++ per person indoor for a celebration meal with half a bottle of Billecart-Salmon Brut and unlimited cocktails, or pick your favourite seat on the terrace outdoor at THB 16,000++ per person with unlimited cocktails, a bottle of Billecart-Salmon Brut and snacks.

Mott 32 Bangkok

New Year’s Eve – 31st December 2022

At Mott 32 Bangkok, an upmarket Chinese restaurant, a set dinner priced at THB 8,888++ per person will be served indoors in the elegant glass-enclosed main dining room as well as outside on the terrace, with a glass of Billecart-Salmon Brut and live DJ entertainment included. Menu highlights include delectable starters and soups such as scallop and taro croquettes, fire-roasted suckling pig, caviar and fish maw jelly, and double-boiled abalone soup as well as mains ranging from signature apple wood-roasted 42-day Peking duck to braised lobster and Inaniwa udon with shredded free-range chicken. Minimum spend in Mott’s private dining room is THB 75,000++ for the first seating and THB 125,000++ for the second seating.

Sky Beach

New Year’s Eve – 31st December 2022

At Sky Beach, Bangkok’s most dramatic rooftop venue, the New Year’s Eve party options range from a general admission ticket priced at THB 8,000 net with a two-hour open bar from 10 pm till midnight to a VIP experience at “The Peak” for THB 18,000 net per person (minimum of four guests per table) with one bottle of premium Champagne per person and countdown shots at midnight included.
