Tolani Announces Steve Lockhart as CEO

Tolani Hotels has announced the appointment of its CEO, veteran hotelier and hotel executive Steve Lockhart, to oversee the company’s ongoing success and growth.

Thailand-based Tolani Hotels delivers hospitality management expertise through long experience in the industry. The company founders and partners have been responsible for a number of well-known brands and properties, including the X2 and Away brands created and led by Anthony McDonald.

Today, Tolani Hotels presents its new vision, mission, and journey. The Tolani brand was carefully crafted by harnessing the power of a dynamic group of like-minded business superstars from the fields of hospitality, service, and food & beverage. They were tasked with a single goal: to deliver a fresh brand that will ‘wow’ both international and local guests, and escape the resort cliches. Whether it’s the service, the design, or simply the overall environment and ambience, Tolani guests will truly feel as if they are welcomed guests of the brand. The slogan of “Always Welcome” (yindeesamer) applies not just to hotel guests, but also partners, suppliers, and staff.

Tolani has 13 properties under its umbrella and continues to grow through a variety of hotel management agreement options, which include “Tolani”, which is fully managed by the group, “By Tolani”, which is a co-brand option where owners can opt in to services offered by Tolani, and finally a white label option.

Steve Lockhart has been with the company since its launch in 2021. Prior to joining Tolani, he worked closely with Anthony McDonald at BHMAsia, serving as GM at a number of X2 properties, and has an impressive 20-year track record in the hospitality sector. He brings a broad range of experience to the company having started his career in the UK as an operations manager before moving into destinations as diverse as China, Saudi Arabia, Papua New Guinea, and Kenya.

I’m very honored to be trusted by Khun Kaewjai Phaoenchoke, the founder of Tolani Hotels,” he stated. “At Tolani Hotels, we do things differently. With an entrepreneurial spirit in mind, and as owners ourselves, we take everything owners want into consideration. After the pandemic, owners, staff, and travelers all need special attention, and I’m confident that we can deliver that.”

The new CEO also hinted at a bright future for Tolani as Thailand moves into its post-pandemic recovery phase. “Looking forward, we are planning to open a few more properties and bring in some new ideas to the industry,” he said.
