Trip.Com’s Inaugural Livestream In Thailand Secures Total Gross Merchandise Volume Of Over THB4,000,000

The evening of 2 July saw leading international travel services provider Trip.com Group host their inaugural livestream sales event in Thailand across YouTube and Facebook. Trip.com Group’s two-hour long live broadcast, which introduced selected hotels and attractive travel packages, kicked off to great success, securing the platform over THB 4,000,000 in gross merchandise volume. The livestream was part of concerted efforts spearheaded by Trip.com, in partnership with local tourism boards and industry partners, to rejuvenate the local travel scene.

Hosted by celebrity and travel influencer K. Boss and Trip.com Group’s Assistant Market Manager (Phuket), Worakanya Jinpol (Mook), the livestream featured attractive promotions from top hotels in Thailand – with discounts of up to 50 percent. The novel live broadcast gameplay format attracted a large number of viewers to tune in and join the fun, playing exciting games to win over forty prizes.

K. Boss, who is the co-founder of one of the top three largest popular travel content platforms in Thailand, Sneak Out, says, “It was incredible to be able to interact with all the participants during this first livestream. I’m so glad that many tuned in to show their support – not just for our event, but for the local travel industry as well. For those who weren’t able to join, there are still many great deals on Trip.com and I hope that those who are able to will take the opportunity to once again start exploring our beloved Thailand.”

Trip.com Group launched their global “Travel On” campaign on 22 June and released their Travel Trends Report in partnership with Google, which revealed that the tourism industry is gradually recovering in the Asia-Pacific market. The report also found that interest in short-haul travel is quickly developing and about 30% of people want to travel in the next three months, of which local and short-distance travel products account for more than 70% of customer search volume.
