UNHCR invites Thai public to step in solidarity with refugees in “2 Billion Kilometres to Safety” Campaign

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Thailand launched its new global campaign in Thailand, calling on people to cover the distance travelled by refugees each year. The “2 Billion Kilometres to Safety” campaign encourages Thai people to join the global movement by acting in solidarity and run, walk or cycle to achieve a cumulative total of two billion kilometres which cover the distance travelled by refugees each year. These acts, when taken together, acknowledge the resilience and strength of refugees.

UNHCR introduced the campaign with a “2 Billion Kilometres to Safety” charity run in order to commemorate World Refugee Day, joining the press conference by Giuseppe De Vincentiis (center), UNHCR Representative and Pu Praya Lundberg (3rd from right) UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. Kanchana Patarachoke (3rd from left), Director-General, Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tahra Laszlo Taylor (2nd from left), Chief Operations Officer, Ari also participated the event held at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) on Friday 10th May 2019.
