Vibrant ‘Vijitr’ Lighting Show Boosts Sustainable Tourism in Thailand

Amazing New Chapter Visit Thailand Year 2023The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced its latest initiative to promote meaningful travel experiences and drive sustainable tourism through the ‘Vijitr’ project. This extravagant light-and-sound event will take place across the five regions of Thailand from April to June 2023, stimulating travel and showcasing the country’s rich culture and natural beauty.

In response to a recent survey on domestic tourists’ travel behaviour during the third quarter of 2022, TAT has scheduled ‘Vijitr’ in the five regions of Thailand – Central, Northeastern, Northern, Southern, and Eastern regions. The event is an excellent way to promote travel between different provinces and boost tourism in the wake of the pandemic.

The ‘Vijitr’ project will feature spectacular light and sound shows, multimedia water features, 3D lighting installations, projection mapping, and storytelling techniques. The event will also include various other fun activities and entertainment programs.

Central Region: “Mu Light Experiences – Vijitr Mu-te-lu)” From April 29th to May 7th, the light and sound show will occur at ICONSIAM, Central Post Office (Grand Postal Building), and Wachirabenchathat Park (Rot Fai Park) in Bangkok. The event will reflect local beliefs about moonlight and bathing in the moonlight for positive energy and prosperity.

Northeastern Region: “Vijitr Nakhon Phanom – The City of Happiness on the Mekong River” From May 27th to June 4th, this colourful event will take place on the banks of the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom. Visitors can enjoy a light and sound show with mapping, light-up features, and many other fun activities.

Southern Region: “Vijitr – The Story of Nakhon Si Thammarat” From May 20th to May 28th, this exciting light and sound event will occur at various landmarks in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Visitors can experience 3D mapping, light installations, city tours, storytelling techniques, and other activities at various landmarks.

Northern Region: “Vijitr @ Chiang Rai: Wiang of Light” From May 20th to May 28th, this grand event will feature light and sound performances with 3D mapping, light installations, and projection techniques. Visitors can enjoy the charm of the Lanna civilization at various landmarks in Chiang Rai.

Eastern Region: “Vijitr @ Rayong: The City of Happiness in the East” From May 27th to June 4th, this exciting light and sound extravaganza will take place at the Mangrove Forest Learning Center, Phra Chedi Klang Nam, Rayong. Visitors can enjoy projection mapping onto an island in the water, the colourful underwater world of jellyfish, lighting shows at the Bridge of Fine Way, fireworks displays, and music performances by leading artists.

The ‘Vijitr’ project is an excellent opportunity to showcase Thailand’s cultural heritage and natural beauty while promoting sustainable tourism.
