Visa and TAT launch Thailand Grand Sale 2019 to position Bangkok as a top shopping destination

Mr. Santi Sawangcharoen (left), Deputy Executive Director, East Asia Region, Tourism Authority of Thailand and Naporn Inkatanuvatana, (right), Senior Director for Visa Thailand, have launched the Thailand Grand Sale 2019, aiming to accelerate Bangkok’s position as a top shopping destination for international visitors and Thai shoppers.

The Thailand Grand Sale runs from today until 31 August 2019 and is in partnership with leading department stores along the famous shopping street of Sukhumvit, including Amarin Plaza, Central Chidlom, Central Embassy, Emporium, EmQuartier, Erawan Bangkok, Gaysorn, Paragon, Terminal 21, and Zen.

Under this year’s campaign, both international and Thai shoppers stand a chance to win special prizes, including a voucher worth up to 1,000 baht when spending a minimum of 2,000 baht per receipt on their Visa credit, debit or pre-paid cards[1].  In addition, Visa cardholders will be able to access a world of privileges through Visa’s very own premium platform, including a number of attractive lifestyle privileges and experiences in Thailand[2].

Based on Visa’s travel insights, Bangkok is one of the top destinations for international tourist arrivals in 2018[3] alongside Paris, Tokyo London and Barcelona.  The collaboration between Visa and the Tourism Authority of Thailand is built on a long-standing relationship between the two organizations and a shared aspiration to cement Thailand as top global destination among international travellers.
