Yuthasak Supasorn, the governor for Tourism Authority of Thailand put forward an agenda for international tourists participating in the Phuket Sandbox program to have the option to travel to the proposed nearby southern provinces after completing the first 7 days of their trip in Phuket.
The general consensus of the meeting approved the proposed scheme allowing Phuket Sandbox tourists to travel to the following regions once having completed the first week of their stay in Phuket.
The regions comprise of Suratthani (includes Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao, Krabi (includes Koh Phi Phi, Koh Ngai, and Railay), and Phang Nga (includes Khao Lak, Koh Yao Noi, Koh, and Yao Yai).
Tourists will be able to join the program from 16th August 2021 onwards which will help cut the mandatory stay in Phuket from 14 days to 7 days before traveling on to the other designated aforementioned destinations.
Participants will have to apply for a COE (Certificate of Entry) for each route before departing for Thailand. The foreign ministry will open the registration system within the week and approval for a COE for the 7+7 Phuket Sandbox Extension program will be accepted with the condition that tourists have fulfilled their first 7 days stay in Phuket.
