With Thai New Year celebrations and Easter falling on the same weekend this year, Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort is inviting holidaymakers and local epicureans to experience a five-day culinary programme in celebration of Songkran and Easter. Festivities start at 6:30 pm on 13 April with a ‘Starry Night’ Songkran BBQ right on the Chaweng Beach. On 17 April, the centre of resort activity will shift to the Ocean Kiss restaurant, which will host the Bottomless Easter Brunch by the Sea from 12.00 pm to 3.30 pm. Adults will be instantly transported to the Mediterranean with a traditional Easter brunch spread, while the youngsters will revel in the excitement of all things spring with a magic circus show and Easter egg hunt. Guests can also expect live entertainment and a delectable buffet of premium charcuterie, seared foie gras, signature ‘Crab Shack’ seafood dishes, sweet treats and more. Easter Brunch is THB 2,500++ per person with free-flow soft drinks; THB 975++ per child aged 5 to 11 years old; and free for children under five years old.
Those looking to fully immerse themselves in Thai traditions surrounding the festival of Songkran need look no further than the Royal Meal of Khao Chae available exclusively on 13 – 16 April. A summer staple originating in the Siamese royal court, this icy-cold dish will be cooked Lanna-style with premium rice soaked in aromatic, jasmine-infused water and served with various side dishes, such as steamed bell peppers stuffed with minced pork, shrimp-paste balls rolled in ground coconut, and shredded sweetened beef. Each Khao Chae set is priced at THB 580++ per person and is available from 12.00 pm to 4.00 pm at the Ocean Kiss restaurant as well as poolside.
For an even more elevated celebration, guests can opt for the exclusive Savelberg Takeover at Tree Tops Sky Dining & Bar where doyen of Nouvelle Cuisine Henk Savelberg will be serving fine gastronomy up in the tree tops to a live saxophone solo. In an exclusive three-day event, the renowned Michelin-starred chef will showcase his elegant, modern French and Dutch fare adapted for the tropics in a seafood-centric menu. Opening with Belon oyster and foie gras macaron appetisers, the five-course set will invite diners to explore exquisite flavours of blue crab, scallop and Langoustine, as well as enjoying Quail Rouleau with foie gras and crumbly Dutch apple cake with yuzu espuma. The Savelberg Takeover will take place on 14-16 April, with two seatings, at 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm, and is priced at THB 4,200++ per person for a five-course meal. Wine pairing is available for THB 1,998++ per person.
