Bangkok’s skyline was transformed into a dazzling canvas of light and colour as ICONSIAM, in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and various partners, hosted the “Amazing Thailand Countdown 2024.” This spectacular event, held along the scenic Chao Phraya River, captivated over 11 million viewers worldwide and positioned Thailand as a premier global New Year’s destination.

The $8.5-million extravaganza spanned three days from December 29th to 31st, 2023, was a fusion of cultural richness and modern entertainment. At the heart of the celebration was ICONSIAM’s River Park, which served as a magnetic centre, drawing millions of enthusiastic participants. The iconic 360-degree stage at ICONSIAM was graced by a blend of thirteen esteemed Thai artists and globally celebrated K-Pop idols from GOT7, including BamBam-Kunpimook Bhuwakul, YUGYEOM, and Mark Tuan. Their historic debut in a Thailand countdown event added a sensational flavour to the festivities.

The event’s programming was meticulously crafted to showcase Thailand’s vibrant culture. Highlights included the “Art of Muay Thai,” a presentation of the nation’s resilience and martial art prowess, and “The Fusion of Thai Dance and Choral Music,” which blended traditional Thai elements with contemporary sounds. The collaboration of Thai artists with the Chong Kben band and a supporting cast of over 60 actors added an extra grandeur to the event.

As the countdown to 2024 approached, the sky over the Chao Phraya River was illuminated by an unprecedented eco-friendly fireworks display. This spectacle, extending over 1,400 meters, featured a record-breaking 50,000 fireworks, meticulously crafted to minimize environmental impact. The display was a collaboration between Thai artisans and Okujyo Yoshimasa, a celebrated pyrotechnics director from Japan. The fireworks and a mesmerizing 3D drone show comprising over 2,000 drones symbolized hopes for prosperity and sustainable progress in the new year.
