Canon Showcases War Through Nachtwey’s Lens: ‘Memoria’ Exhibit

Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Canon) invites photography enthusiasts to explore “James Nachtwey: Memoria,” a retrospective exhibition showcasing the renowned war photographer’s work. This marks its debut in Thailand and the Asia Pacific region. The exhibition features 126 iconic war photographs throughout Nachtwey’s career and includes a short interview film directed by Thomas Nordanstad. The event is co-sponsored by Canon and organized by the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand, under royal patronage from H.M. the King, in collaboration with the Photographic Arts Foundation and Bangkok Art & Culture Centre. Furthermore, the display includes the world premiere of Nachtwey’s photographs depicting the war in Ukraine.

The “Memoria” exhibition presents James Nachtwey’s lifelong dedication to documenting pivotal moments in global history during times of war and conflict. His photographs capture the profound effects of war and violence on nations and people’s lives, highlighting the significant losses experienced by humanity. Nachtwey’s impactful works have also inspired a collective call to action, urging the global community to work together in search of solutions to end violence worldwide.

Canon extends a warm invitation to art enthusiasts and those eager to experience world-class art. Visit the “Memoria” exhibition by James Nachtwey, on display until November 26, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM on the 7th floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (closed on Mondays). Entry is free.
