Enhanced Security: Krungsri Introduces Facial Scan for High-Value Transactions

Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya PCL) has upgraded its mobile banking security when customers make money transfers or increase transfer limit on KMA krungsri app and Krungsri Biz Online. From June 2023 onwards, customers will need to use facial recognition to make transactions in compliance with the Bank of Thailand’s new cybersecurity policy. Starting from 27 June 2023 onwards for KMA krungsri app and from 19 June 2023 onwards for Krungsri Biz Online (for individual customer with single control only).

The new measures are being introduced to prevent fraudulent transfers and prevent scammers from transferring money without the account holder’s permission. The mobile banking transactions that will require facial scan include:

  1. Money transfers from 50,000 baht or more per transaction
  2. Accumulated money transfers of 200,000 baht per day
  3. Increase the daily transfer limit from 50,000 baht or more

For customers who have never had facial verification information with the Bank, please bring ID card or Passport (for foreigners) to the nearest branch to take a photo in preparation for the face scan verification from today onwards. By using facial recognition, customers will be able to verify identity and authenticate their mobile transactions more conveniently, faster, and more securely. Furthermore, for KMA krungsri app users, facial recognition can be used to verify identity when installing the app on a new device, forgetting PIN or change mobile phone number, open a new bank account, or applying for a loan. For more information, please contact Krungsri Call Center 1572.
