A Gourmet Story: VIVIN Grocery
Founded in 2013 by Nicolas Vivin and Samantha Proyrungtong, what started as one table and one product at the Farmers’ Market, VIVIN Grocery has emerged as a premium cheese provider in Thailand. With a commitment to artisanal, high-quality products, the brand boasts two outlets in Bangkok (Asok and Thonglor) – a grocery and a “Shelf to Plate: Restaurant” concept.
Originating from a necessity to support select Thai cheese makers amidst the financial strains of the COVID-19 pandemic, VIVIN Grocery initiated a monthly buffet to alleviate excess cheese surplus while generating revenue during challenging times. This endeavor, not only a strategic response to market conditions, aimed to introduce over 20 varieties of Thai cheese to an initially hesitant public, offering unlimited access for a set time at a single price. Evolving from its humble beginnings, this monthly event has transcended into a niche culinary attraction within Bangkok. The Thai Cheese Buffet format boasts 20+ premium Thai cheeses alongside homemade charcuterie, locally sourced cold cuts, organic salads, and artisanal condiments. Beyond the indulgence of flavor, this experience catalyzes promoting awareness not only for local cheese but the emerging local artisanal produce, and their producers and fostering sustainable food practices.
Taking the Thai Cheese Buffet on the Road:
Now VIVIN Grocery is taking the Thai Cheese Buffet on the road for a Thai Cheese Tour!
The tour will pop up at 6 key tourist destinations in the Nation of Thailand cooperating with 5 Star Hotels and beloved and Michelin-star-rated restaurants, bringing the same or similar all-Thai cheese experience to cheese lovers across the nation with a rocking twist, and will span over 12 months (Sept 2023 – Sept 2024). Along the way, guests can anticipate surprise side tours, adding an extra layer of excitement and discovery to the culinary
journey.
VIVIN Grocery celebrates Thai cheeses and locally sourced cold cuts, promoting artisanal cheese and showcasing the talents of local artisans. VIVIN Grocery will be leading the tour making friends with new fans and creating beautiful culinary rock music with partners along the way.
“Thai Cheese Rocks”: A Journey of Flavours with Fun
The tour’s pop-up events will feature an array of Thai cheeses, homemade cold cuts, jams, chutneys, dried fruits, pickles, and artisanal bread in the spirit of VIVIN Grocery’s iconic Thai Cheese Buffet. Each partner establishment will customise its offerings, highlighting local Thai produce and contributing to sustainable practices.
The tour’s pop-up events will not only feature an array of Thai cheeses and culinary delights but select venues will also incorporate live entertainment, dynamic lighting, and rock concert-style props. To amplify the experience, special rock-themed merchandise, including tour t-shirts, bags, and other items, will be available for fans to groove with the theme.
