Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa transforms its rooftops into sustainable solar power station

Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa, the five-star resort on Thailand’s golden Gulf coast, has connected the rooftop solar panel system that will begin producing electricity this month which aims to minimize carbon footprint and create clean energy.

“Hua Hin is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Thailand – a renowned resort town and its beautiful beaches. At Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa, protecting and preserving these beautiful beaches and the surrounding area is as much a priority as we care for our guests. So, we decided to invest in a solar PV system to help reduce its carbon emission, greenhouse gas and to protect the beauty of its environment while reducing electricity consumption” said Mr. Goetz Bauer, General Manager, Hin Marriott Resort & Spa.

The solar system project comprises 702 panels which were installed the resort’s rooftop and will help the resort in a CO2 reduction of 512 tons annually.

Mr. Goetz Bauer also considers that “Nowadays, travelers are more mindful than ever about traveling consciously while enjoying the resort, they also look for ways to avoid tourist activities that have a negative impact on the local environment and communities. Our ambition is to grow business more sustainably while managing our impact on the environment and community as well as improving the experience of our guests”

Marriott’s sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction, we commit to creating a positive and sustainable impact wherever we do business.

In addition to investing in the solar PV system, Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa has implemented a series of environmentally sustainable practices aimed at reducing environmental impact in the surrounding community, including replacing plastic straws with paper versions, using eco-friendly products and watering the grounds and gardens with recycled water throughout the property. We not only plant the beach morning glory to help stabilize dunes and prevent the gulf coast but the resort’s associates also regularly clean the beach in front of the hotel.
