Majestic Wood Dragon Year Shines at Kimpton Maa-Lai!

This February, Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok presents a series of deliciously tasty and colourfully entertaining experiences to celebrate the dawn of the lunar new year and the prosperity and abundance that lies ahead. From an award-winning acrobatic Dragon Dance to a dim sum pop-up, hawker stall extravaganza, Chinese-inspired afternoon tea and straight-from-Shanghai cocktail mixology, there are more reasons than ever to visit this Langsuan hotspot.  

JAW-DROPPING, AERIAL FLIPPING AND AWARD-WINNING DRAGON DANCE  

From 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, 10 February, Kungpak Thailand, an award-winning Dragon Dance troupe, stages a spectacular show at Urban Oasis to welcome good fortune on the first day of the lunar new year. The outdoor, foliage-filled setting offers an up-close, immersive performance experience, free of charge.  

Kungpak Thailand has won accolades upon accolades, including being the only Dragon Dance to receive the title of Most Admirable Order of the Direkgunabhorn in 2022, bestowed upon a select few who have rendered dedicated services to the Kingdom of Thailand, as well as being a past winner of the World Dragon & Lion Dance Championship 2017 (Racing Speed category) in Shanghai, China. 

 KOWLOON DINER POP-UP AT CRAFT 

From 1 – 11 February, Langsuan social hub CRAFT serves up a dim sum menu that takes the yum cha tradition to contemporary new heights. Partnering with Kowloon Diner, the dim sum eatery in Bangkok’s Phra Khanong neighbourhood, introduces modern interpretations of nostalgic Cantonese favourites, including foodie-favourites as Har Gau, Siu Mai, Xiao Long Bao, Mala Xiao Long Bao and more. Prices start at THB 150++ per dish.

HAWKERS AT STOCK.ROOM 

Stock.Room brings rows of hawkers, the quintessential street food experience, to this expansive grocerant. 

From 9 – 11 February, diners can dive into six different hawker stalls offering mouth-watering Chinese favourites and delicacies that transcend boundaries and ethnicities, from homemade dim sum to suckling pig, Peking duck, beef mala soup with sweet potato noodles and much more. Also included alongside fresh seafood on ice is Sea Bar’s sizzling stir-fried servings of prawn chilli and garlic, seafood with X.O. sauce, blue crab with yellow curry and squid Kung Pao. 

Sea Bar x Hawker feast is available on 9 – 11 February from 5:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. and priced at THB 1,388++ per person inclusive of free flow soft drinks.

DRAGON DELIGHT AFTERNOON TEA AT MAA-LAI LIBRARY 

Maa-Lai Library welcomes the Year of the Dragon with a Chinese-themed afternoon tea set that merge yum cha and afternoon tea traditions in the heart of Bangkok, enjoyed with a panoramic view from the 30th floor for the ultimate escapism. 

The Dragon Delight afternoon tea is offered in a choice of two sets. The “Premium Edition” features highlights such as prawn toasts, Peking duck pancakes, langoustine wonton soup and spicy Szechuan crab spring rolls. The “Vegetarian Edition” includes delicacies like Chinese salsa on rice crisp, taro cake with sweetened ginkgo nut, persimmon mousse and white chocolate, and chestnut egg tart. Both sets are served with Sichuan peppercorn scones and superfood Goji berry-vanilla scones. The all-new Dragon Delight afternoon tea is priced at THB 1,400++ per set including premium Thai loose-leaf tea blends. The special Chinese New Year Edition will be available exclusively from 1 – 29 February.

CHINESE NEW YEAR SIPS AT BAR.YARD 

Asia’s hip cocktail culture is magically transported to Bar.Yard in February with exotic sipping experiences at this sky-high, 40th-floor rooftop oasis.  

From 1 – 29 February, a special cocktail menu features tipples concocted with Peddlers’ Gin, Shanghai’s first home-grown gin, including Spicy Fortune and the Zest Tea Sour. 

Plus, on 5 February, Mario la Pietra, the beverage director of Singapore’s popular Neon Pigeon, will take up positions behind the bar to demonstrate his mixology and shaking prowess while serving up their distinctive concoctions in this neon-lit playground.
