Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort hosted activities to commemorate the picturesque Thai festival of Loy Krathong
On November 11th 2019, Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort hosted activities that allowed guests to become more familiar with Loy Krathong. The team at Sofitel organised opportunities for guests to craft their own krathongs at the lobby area, providing natural materials gathered from around the hotel grounds. The activity proved very popular from visiting guests, who were all keen to take part in the local celebrations.
Every year, the celebration takes place during the full moon of the 12th lunar month, which often occurs during the month of November. To commemorate the festivity, people will father around bodies of water like lakes, rivers and canals to release beautifully crafted lotus-shaped rafts decorated with candles, incense sticks, and flowers, into the water. This is done to show respect to the water goddess, and to ask for good luck and prosperity for the future.
