Mrs. Varangkana Luerojvong, THAI Managing Director, Catering, said THAI is a state enterprise under the Ministry of Transport and its catering department manufactures food for THAI passengers and over 60 customer airlines. THAI also operates the Yellow Orchid Restaurant and Puff & Pie Bakeries that sells sandwiches, bakery goods, salads, and ready to eat meals. THAI Catering’s food preparation standards have received GMP, HACCP, and ISO certification for high quality, hygiene, and safety standards and use pesticide-free vegetables, fruits, fresh food, and raw materials as ingredients.

THAI, on behalf of the Ministry of Transport, signed an MoU with the Marketing Organization for Farmers (MOF), on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, for a five-year period that began this October. THAI will purchase pesticide-free vegetables, fruits, and fresh food that are allocated and screened by the MOF, which will continually improve product quality based on THAI’s requirements. These agricultural products must also have GAP/organic or Halal certification.  THAI customers may be confident that meals were prepared with high quality ingredients that are beneficial to their health and as a result, this MoU also increase revenue for Thai farmers.

THAI, the national flag carrier, runs its operations with concern for public well-being, based on corporate, social, and environment responsibilities. In the past, THAI purchased agricultural produce from Thai farmers to prepare inflight meals that are served to passengers onboard, such as cold weather fruits and vegetables from the Royal Project, agricultural produce from the southern province, Doi Kham processed vegetables, and Young Smart Farmer’s produce from Chachoengsao province. In addition, OTOP (One Tambon One Product) products are sold on THAI flights.

This MoU elevates Thai product and service standards that are produced by Thai people, whereby meals are prepared from pesticide-free, high quality ingredients, in accordance to THAI’s mission to provide premium service standards throughout the journey.
