Thai Tourism Transformed: TAT & TAGTHAi’s Bold Step!

TAT-and-TAGTHAi-sign-MOU-to-bolster-Thailand-tourism-2In a landmark move poised to redefine Thailand’s tourism landscape, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Thai Digital Platform Social Enterprise Co., Ltd. have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This historic agreement heralds a new era for the Thai travel sector, firmly placing the TAGTHAi app at the forefront of a digital revolution in tourism.

TAGTHAi, often referred to as “Tak-Thaai”, meaning “greetings” in Thai, is now earmarked as the quintessential travel companion for both local and international tourists venturing into the vibrant realms of Thailand. This intuitive, all-encompassing application represents a new chapter in the travel industry, promising to streamline and enrich the travel experience in Thailand.

The MOU, a strategic collaboration signed by TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool and Mr. Kalin Sarasin, Chairman of the Thai Digital Platform Social Enterprise Co., Ltd., symbolizes a significant stride towards integrating digital technology with tourism. Mr. Sarasin, who also serves as the Honorary Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, envisions TAGTHAi as a ‘Super Aggregator Platform’ that simplifies and enhances the travel journey through a single, accessible platform.

Ms Kiatphaibool, in her statement, underscored the importance of TAGTHAi in TAT’s ambitious 2024 vision for rejuvenating Thai tourism. The platform, she notes, aligns perfectly with the authority’s drive towards fostering high-value, sustainable growth in the sector. TAGTHAi, she believes, will play a pivotal role in promoting the unique soft-power elements of Thailand, offering travellers a plethora of meaningful experiences.

This collaboration resonates with Thailand’s progressive national development plan, “Thailand 4.0”. The initiative aims to leverage technology and public-private data synergies to escalate the country’s competitive edge, particularly in tourism. TAGTHAi emerges as a vital tool in this endeavour, providing a platform for local businesses and tiny and medium-sized enterprises to showcase their offerings to a global audience.

Launched in 2019, TAGTHAi has evolved as a collaborative effort between public and private entities in Thailand, pooling resources to create an unmatched travel experience. The app serves as a digital concierge, offering insights into popular and emerging tourist destinations and routes, enabling tourists to explore Thailand’s rich tapestry easily and confidently.

The MOU further cements TAT’s commitment to promoting TAGTHAi through its extensive marketing and publicity channels. In return, TAGTHAi will furnish TAT with valuable data intelligence on tourist preferences garnered through meticulous analysis of user activity. This exchange of insights will facilitate a more robust and data-driven approach to tourism marketing.

Mr. Sarasin, reflecting on the partnership, highlighted the critical role of digital technology in the tourism sector. He envisions TAGTHAi as crucial in maintaining Thailand’s stature as a premier global tourism destination. The app is set to undergo further development, making it the most comprehensive ‘Super Aggregator Platform’ for tourists in Thailand.

TAT and TAGTHAi have already succeeded through the TAGTHAI Pass – a digital tourism pass allowing tourists to access various tourism-related services with a single payment. This includes attractions, workshops, restaurants, and spas, with plans to expand the City Pass and Golf Pass to more destinations.

Tourists can download the TAGTHAi app from the App Store or Play Store. For more information, visit https://www.tagthai.com/.
