Thailand’s Culinary Map Redefined in 2024 MICHELIN Guide

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT GovernorIn a remarkable celebration of Thailand’s gastronomic prowess, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has proudly announced the release of the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2024. This edition, the most expansive yet, encompasses a staggering 447 establishments across Thailand, including the metropolitan allure of Bangkok, the historic charm of Ayutthaya, the vibrant culinary scenes of Chiang Mai and Isan, and introducing two new glittering stars in Thailandā€™s culinary constellation: Ko Samui and Mainland Surat Thani.

Under the guidance of TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, this collaboration with the MICHELIN Guide, initiated in 2018, has flourished into a strategic partnership, enhancing Thailand’s global culinary reputation. “The MICHELIN Guide has been instrumental in spotlighting Thailand as a top-tier gastronomic destination,” Ms. Thapanee remarked, emphasizing the Guide’s pivotal role in promoting Thailandā€™s diverse food culture.

The 2024 edition, a gastronomeā€™s guidebook, celebrates the ascension of 7 establishments to the esteemed two MICHELIN Stars status, including Baan Tepa and Gaa, and welcomes six new entrants to the coveted one MICHELIN Star category. INDDEE, NAWA, Samrub Samrub Thai, Mia, Resonance, and Wana Yook have joined this elite group, showcasing the innovative spirit of Thai cuisine. In a move underscoring sustainability, Jā€™AIME by Jean-Michel Lorain has been honoured with the new MICHELIN Green Star.

Adding Ko Samui and Mainland Surat Thani to the Guide marks a significant expansion of Thailand’s culinary map, enriching the country’s gastronomic narrative. This broadening of scope aligns seamlessly with TATā€™s initiative to promote experience-based tourism, emphasizing the countryā€™s five soft powers: Food, Film, Fashion, Fight, and Festival.

Ms Thapaneeā€™s closing remarks encapsulate the essence of this endeavour: “A dining experience in Thailand, as recognized by the MICHELIN Guide, transcends mere culinary delight. It’s an immersive journey through taste, culture, and tradition, offering both local and international visitors a deeply personal and unforgettable encounter with Thailand’s rich gastronomic heritage.”

The full selection of restaurants and eateries in Thailand is available on the MICHELIN Guide website, a testament to the country’s vibrant and evolving food scene.
