Thailand’s Sensational Hunting Season Shopping

Siam Discovery CenterIt’s that time of year again when the Land of Smiles, Thailand, becomes an unparalleled shopping paradise. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has ushered in the “Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2023” with a high-energy ‘Shopping Challenge’ to kickstart the event. Pitting influencers and key opinion leaders (KOLs) from China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan against each other, the challenge took centre stage in Bangkok, turning heads and setting pulses racing.

Representing 12 diverse teams, these influencers, armed with a 10,000 Baht war chest, embarked on a thrilling two-hour live-streamed shopping spree. The battlefield included renowned shopping malls like MBK Centre, CentralWorld, Siam Discovery, Gaysorn Village, EmQuartier, and Terminal 21 – all accessible via the convenient BTS Skytrain Sukhumvit Line.

The TAT Governor, Yuthasak Supasorn, elucidated, “The Shopping Challenge is our dynamic way of heralding the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale, amplifying Thailand’s reputation as a global shopping hotspot. We invite the world to this year’s event to relish a bounty of great deals spanning diverse sectors, from retail to tourism services.”

True to its theme, ‘Hunting Season’, the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2023 unleashes a shopping fest from 15 June to 15 August. Shoppers can hunt down lucrative deals in six major Thai cities: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Udon Thani, Chon Buri (Pattaya), and Songkhla (Hat Yai).

Spanning an impressive 10,000+ stores, the grand sale promises irresistible deals from major department stores, airlines, hotels, spas, and online shopping platforms. An array of offers and discounts up to 80% under the ‘3 Get’ campaign is geared to cater to foreign and Thai tourists.

Under the Get Treasures sub-campaign, every 500 Baht spent allows shoppers to win weekly prizes, including five-star accommodation packages, gold ornaments, iPhone 14, round-trip domestic air tickets, and more, totalling over 2.5 million Baht.

The Get Thai Craft sub-campaign offers foreign tourists spending at least 5,000 Baht at VAT Refund for Tourists signed stores, complimentary Thai craft souvenirs crafted by five local communities. Souvenirs are available at VAT Refund counters at six international airports – Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, U-Tapao-Rayong-Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Hat Yai.

Under the Get Im Jai sub-campaign, tourists spending a minimum of 3,000 Baht at participating stores can secure shopping bags designed by Artstory By AutisticThai, a social enterprise supporting children with special needs and individuals with autism.

The grand sale further entices shoppers with unique promotions such as the TikTok Creators Challenge, See Post Get Code, LIVE Flash Sale, and Pay Day (8.8), facilitated through online platforms and Troop giving-away activity at six locations.

This epic sale would not have been possible without the robust collaboration of various sectors, including retail giants, airlines, online platforms, hotels, health and wellness services, and credit card companies.

“With the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2023, we anticipate attracting over 200,000 shopping-enthusiast foreign tourists, generating a revenue surge of at least 100 million Baht for participating stores and injecting at least 75 million Baht into travel and tourism,” projected Mr Yuthasak.
