Unleashing Care: Beiersdorf’s Global Volunteering Day!

With its first global volunteering day for employees, Beiersdorf once again shows its commitment to the CARE BEYOND SKIN Sustainability Agenda. All Beiersdorf employees around the world are being given the opportunity to volunteer for one day to support communities in need.

The first CARE BEYOND SKIN (CBS) Day is a global initiative aimed at promoting Beiersdorf’s social and environmental commitment to creating a more inclusive society and a lasting environmental impact. From May to July 2023, employees across the globe will be offered a paid day off for volunteering in partnership with local charitable organizations. In Thailand, Beiersdorf will visit Wat Mongkhin Kothawat School in Samut Prakan on 27 July to make much-needed improvements to the 96-year-old school, including refreshing the décor by painting corridor walls with educational scenes, repairing the wooden bridge and chairs that connects the school to a nearby mangrove forest, building a new playground and painting the floor of the main activity center. While at the school CBS volunteers will also play games with students and take part in reading activities at the school library as well as treating all students to a special lunch.

Vincent Warnery, CEO of Beiersdorf

“At Beiersdorf, we recognize our responsibility to foster positive change and are fully committed every day to strive to make our sustainability ambitions a reality. That’s why we are thrilled to announce our first-ever global volunteering initiative, the CARE BEYOND SKIN Day. From May to July 2023, more than 20,000 employees from all around the world have the chance to devote one working day to participate in a joint initiative making a difference in their communities and collectively contributing to the company’s global efforts. These diverse acts of care will bring our Sustainability Agenda CARE BEYOND SKIN to life for a more inclusive society and lasting positive environmental impact,” says Vincent Warnery, CEO of Beiersdorf.

Stephanie Barraud, Senior Vice President – ASEAN, Beiersdorf Co., Ltd.

“In support of our core business of Caring for people skin by offering high quality skincare products, we also have a commitment to our society and our environment. In Thailand, we bring our CARE BEYOND SKIN program to life by supporting young communities around the country. In this case, we are providing much needed care to the interior, exterior, and landscape of Wat Mongkhin Kothawat School. We have built a relationship with the school when we helped improve their library facilities and I am delighted we are able to continue supporting this important community educational facility with more help. I encourage our employees in Thailand and across ASEAN to participate in our Care Beyond Skin Day and make a positive contribution to our communities,” added Stephanie Barraud, Senior Vice President – ASEAN, Beiersdorf Co., Ltd.

Taking CARE to Thailand

Beiersdorf Thailand is showing its commitment to Care Beyond Skin by engaging voluntarily in environmental and social projects at the first global volunteering CBS Day. In collaboration with the local charitable organizations Ashoka (Thailand) Foundation and Thailand Collaboration for Education (TCFE) by Yuvabadhana Foundation, all employees in Thailand have the chance to take part in activities such as renovating Wat Mongkhin Kothawat School in Samut Prakan by painting, fixing, and repairing the school as well as helping the children to learn to create positive impact. To support the efforts to refresh the school Beiersdorf staff will hold auctions and collect donations to fund the building of a new playground, which will become a multi-purpose area for the children to do outdoor activities. The Beiersdorf CBS Day will take place on 27 July 2023.

Realizing ambitious sustainability targets

The goal of the global Beiersdorf CBS Day is to make a measurable and positive contribution to the environment and society. As one of the largest skin care companies globally, Beiersdorf recognizes its role in tackling climate change and has designed its CARE BEYOND SKIN Sustainability Agenda as part of the C.A.R.E.+ corporate strategy to achieve competitive sustainable growth.

Beiersdorf continues to put considerable effort into realizing its targets as part of the CARE BEYOND SKIN Sustainability Agenda and is making significant progress towards its climate targets. The company has set an ambitious climate target of reducing absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 30% by 2025 versus the base year 2018. In 2022, Beiersdorf reduced its absolute Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 17%, which is a very good result, especially despite growth. Beiersdorf has recently been awarded a “Triple-A” rating by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a non-profit organization, as one of only 13 companies worldwide. CDP recognized Beiersdorf for its efforts to protect the climate, water, and forests with the top rating of “A”.
