Volvo demonstrates its position as a premium carmaker with a difference in the Thai market, reaches a five-year high for car sales, with orders placed for 1,292 new vehicles in 2018

Volvo Car Thailand has claimed another smashing success, selling 1,292 cars in 2018 to mark the highest number of vehicles purchased in one year since 2013. This marks a 13% increase in sales volume, and follows a dramatic growth surge of 32% in 2017. The bestselling XC60, a mid-size premium SUV, just edged the large XC90 luxury SUV, while rounding out the trio of top performers for 2018 was the large S90 sedan. Volvo Car Thailand’s performance contributed to another record year for the brand in global sales, with 642,253 vehicles bought – an increase of 12.4% on 2017.

Chris Wailes, Volvo Car Thailand’s Managing Director, says, “Volvo has confirmed its position as one of the fastest-growing premium car brands. This took place in a challenging year for Thailand’s premium car market, proved by the number of customers which are continuing to respond positively to the style, quality and appeal of our range of premium cars, and appreciating the lead Volvo is taking in pushing the boundaries of safety and technology. The results are not just about figures on a spreadsheet, but also reflect the hard work and commitment of everyone in our business and our retail network. We will sustain our efforts to build on this success in 2019, supported by the introduction of further new models, as well as the first year of production of our New XC40 SUV.”

Volvo remains committed to putting people first – satisfying customers and ensuring smooth, safe journeys backed by long-term protection and insurance plans. For more information on the full range of Volvos available, please visit www.volvocars.co.th
