The United Kingdom remains the top destination for Thai students seeking higher education opportunities. Applications are now open for the GREAT Scholarships for the academic year 2024/25. There are 16 scholarships in total: 12 for all fields of study, two for justice and law, and two for science and technology. Each scholarship has a minimum value of £10,000. Mr Danny Whitehead, Director of the British Council in Thailand, disclosed, “The United Kingdom continues to be the top choice for Thai students pursuing higher education in English-speaking countries. From the latest statistics in 2021/22, there were 5,840 Thai students studying in the UK universities. Academic year 2024/25, will be the sixth year that the British Council has provided life-changing opportunities for Thai students to study in the UK through the GREAT Scholarships programme.”
Mr Whitehead further emphasised, “We are dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for Thai students in the UK. This year there are a total of 12 GREAT Scholarships from 12 universities. I’m delighted that options for further study have been expanded, with two scholarships each in justice and law, and science, innovation, and technology, to support those interested in pursuing specialised fields.”
The “GREAT Scholarships 2024–25,” consist of 16 scholarships from 16 universities across the UK. Each university has the following application deadline:
- University of Chichester: open for applications until 31 May 2024
- University of Essex: open for applications until 30 April 2024
- JCA London Fashion Academy: open for applications until 30 May 2024
- University of Kent: open for applications until 26 April 2024
- Kingston University London: open for applications until 31 May 2024
- University of Plymouth: open for applications until 31 May 2024
- University of Reading: open for applications until 3 May 2024
- Royal College of Art: open for applications until 30 April 2024
- Royal Northern College of Music: closing date for applications TBA
- Sheffield Hallam University: open for applications until 31 May 2024
- Swansea University: open for applications until 10 June 2024
- University of York: open for applications until 20 May 2024
Additionally, four scholarships for specialised fields are available from four universities:
- Bournemouth University: open for applications until 30 April 2024
- Middlesex University, London: open for applications until 30 April 2024
- Abertay University: open for applications until 31 March 2024
- Brunel University: open for applications until 30 April 2024
The GREAT Scholarships 2024–25 provide opportunities for individuals seeking to pursue one-year postgraduate courses in the UK under the GREAT Britain campaign. Each scholarship has a minimum value of £10,000, or approximately 450,000 baht. Prospective applicants must meet the qualifications specified by each university and receive an offer to study from a participating university.
“We are committed to supporting Thai students access to UK educational opportunities. In addition, Thai students who successfully complete undergraduate or postgraduate studies can apply for post-study work opportunities in the UK for up to two years, and doctoral graduates can apply for up to three years through the Graduate Route programme.
